Any difference on the crankshaft for the auto versus manual trans trucks?

Might be buying one with 300k that the motor blew up and I'm looking for a replacement...this one has a manual trans...it's in a 1997 4Runner.

Rumored to be a difference on some years/models, but no one has ever substantiated that I've seen.

Cool...guessing there's prolly no difference...that would cost a lot more $$$ to have to have 2 different engines depending on auto vs. manual...

Something was changed (I don't know what) after 98 in the timing belt area, 96-98 had a 60,000 mile interval instead of 90,000.

There should be no difference at all between the auto and manual besides the ECU and the transmission/flexplate/etc.

I'm not convinced they changed anything mechanically. I think they just decided 60K was overkill, but felt it was not worth applying it to prior years--maybe afraid people would want refunds for unnecessary TB changes. I would love some clarity on this--if anyone knows. All the wear parts in that area are 96-02, so what could they have changed?

There is a third cable wheel on the non-throttle-by-wire throttle linkage for the auto kickdown that is missing from the manuals. But nothing to do with the crankshaft, AFAIK. The crank itself is certainly the same all years, all models on the V6 3.4l.

I wonder if the belt itself was changed after 98?
