It seems my Tundra has puked it's starter. No biggie... now where's the starter??
Bueller... Bueller... no one knows... they haven't started failing on the 5.7 enough yet! Turns out, it's NOT where the 4.7 starter is, which is under the intake, the 5.7 starter is under the exhaust manifold on the passenger side! It also has a heat shield guarding it... been qouted as a 6 hour job! HOLY CRAP! It's a $1500 job!

The dealer doesn't even have them on hand! Not even the starter relay!

I'm ready to ditch this "new" vehicle in favor of something easy to wrench on!

Roma has a nice 91 that he has decided to get rid of. He wants to keep the ARB and winch that are on it because he wants to get another one later on.

Who is this? Lemme hold it

Yep that's him. His 91 is maroon and has a factory swing out tire carrier on it. I know I know Mr. T didn't offer those here but he has one and it was on there when he got it.

I think that truck used to be in Birmingham, is the bottom mount smashed into the body?

Matt, I'm fairly certain you have a problem, most likely an obsession which differs from an addiction as there is little treatment for an obsession.

I don't know I have only ever seen pictures of it. Roma called me one night after he saw it parked next to a house on a country road and asked what I thought of it and what he should look for and how hard putting a 5 spd would be into it. But Roma is also a little obsessive about TLCs and has a bj40, an fj40, an fj60, and the fj80 which is getting parked in the driveway too much.

Eric if your interested pm him and he should get back to you fairly quickly. I think he is planning on putting a diesel in his 60 so the 80 will get neglected for longer.

possibly, but it was always parked on Valley ave and I always noticed the tire carrier. The bottom mount of the tire carrier was pushed into the rear corner, proving that you need a bunch of extra support pieces inside the rear corner to successfully install the factory carrier.
