We are sorry to notify you that Four Wheelin’ With Feelin’ for the March Dimes has been CANCELLED this year due to weather/unfavorable conditions. This has not been an easy decision, but after much evaluating of the situation and assessing the logistics we believe we must cancel.
Reasons:
1) Another major rainfall on Thursday on top of an already overabundance of rainfall in the area—we have been told approximately 12 more inches have fallen since Labor Day.
2) The park is nothing but mud.
3) The official campgrounds are marginal IF it does not rain anymore.
4) The fields for primitive camping, parking, tech and start are “crazy muddy, like jello”.
5) The area for the tent for registration and program is soup.
6) None of the off-road sections are usable except the serious rock-crawl.
7) The rally cannot be done without potential unacceptable damage and safety issues.
We are doing our best to get the word out as quickly as possible. Please notify anyone you know of that may possibly have had plans to come to the rally and let them know it is cancelled. Your help is much appreciated.
We are asking that you send in any pledges you’ve already collected (or were planning on collecting/donating) to the March of Dimes at 5315 Wall St., Suite 110, Madison, WI 53718-7938. Please include your pledge sheet and make sure you indicate the pledges are for the Four Wheelin’ with Feelin’ event. You will receive a dash plaque, and if you qualify for prizes in the pledge categories we will get them to you. If you have questions about mailing in pledges, please feel free to contact Jen at March of Dimes – 608.243.7764.
There will be a representative at Northwoods Overland to talk to people who do not get this notice to let them know the rally is cancelled. It is supposed to be a beautiful weekend with good color. So, you may not want to cancel that motel reservation or possibly find a different place to camp and come on up to the area anyway.
If you decide to come on up anyway, the representative will be at the park until noon on Saturday and you can submit your pledges and you will be given a prize. Also, if you’d like, there will be an all-on-road set of clues you can run just for the fun of it.
