If anyone's going to be getting rid of any of the following parts for a 1st gen 4runner, i need: rear leaf springs, shocks and a rear bumper. i can barely afford coffee right now, but the truck is hurting a bit and i figured i could get some pointers from you friendly dudes on the forums. any eyes open would be a big help! thanks!

Sell your drums :flipoff2:

Cant help you with parts...

My leafs are beyond flattened and starting to invert. Rear bumper is so mangled, you would laugh. 4runner has been through a lot in the last few years. She needs a vacation.

Good luck.

Sounds like a good excuse to do some building and swaps. Aren't the 63" Chevys a popular swap? I just ditched a bunch of scrap steel a couple of weeks ago. Let me see if I have anything kicking around for a bumper.

Edit: If you could make FJ 62 springs work I have a set of those. There is a guy on NEOW selling 63" chevys but he wants $100

I wish I didn't have to say this, but, i don't know how to make ANYTHING work... honestly. I'm a drummer hahah. But if you think the 62 springs could fit with a little work, I'm all for it if they're in good shape. i don't have a welder, I know nat does but i haven't talked to him for a while.

You're Jason right? I'm kyle, i remember you from the spring stock run.

Yep thats me. I honestly have no idea if they will fit or not. Might be a little stiff as the 62s are heavier. But then again the are used springs. We could try a little research to see if they will work. I guess it would matter #1 total length of the spring and #2 where the spring centers the axle. I'll see if I can take some measurements tomorrow.

Does anyone have any ideas if this would/could work or not?

I have some fj40 springs and I matched them to my 4runner, they were larger width and different in length.

I did not attempt to adapt them to fit. Would have been too much work, and then may have not performed well.

Did you try some new shocks? Like I said my springs are really poor, but with new shocks it rides nice. I mostly use it off road and it wheels real good.

if Ihe springs are just sagged you could get a full length add a leaf and get a couple of years out of them. I doubt that you are going to find any leafs for you're runner that aren't sagged and a bolt in. The Chevy's a a good swap as well as the Mazda's but both require welding and a bit of work. Good luck and where are you located?

I'm from Brewster on the Cape originally, I live in Somerville right now in Union Square. Nate told me about the chevy swap and I'd be interested, but again I don't know how to work on anything myself really, nor do i have the tools.

As for shocks, yeah I need some of those too haha.

Have Nate do it!
He justs sits around all day anyways, this will give him something to do!

If he ever returns my calls, yeah!
Nate where the heck are you?? Trucks are cooler than boats!
:shotts:

update: New rear shocks installed, monroe sensatracs, i think i made my rotator cuff in my right arm angry trying to get the new bushings on the left side. the old one snapped in half and was pretty much seized onto the pin. But it rides much nicer now, I think Nat's got some leafs he picked up from Lane he's looking into it... gotta get ready for fall gathering!
