Hey guys! Wanting to put a mild (2.5ish) lift on my DD 97 4runner. I think I wanna stay away from the front spacers. I have looked into ToyTec 2.5 lift with the springs all away around and have started to read a little about TRD Tundra Springs up front. Does anyone have any personal expierence with either of these lifts or know where I can get some reasonable cruiser springs. Just trying to save some money (teacher salary) Thanks!
Keith

89s rule will probably be your best bet for someone to bounce ideas off of for this. I'm sure he'll chime in soon. In the mean time, check his thread here.

I have some OEM 100 rear springs if you are PM me if interested...

What is your budget and what tires do you want to run? That will determine what you need to look for.

Go with springs on the front for sure, I would not mess with spacers. Cheapest route is to look for used on forums and be ready to buy when you see them posted. On the rear 7 wrap 80 series front springs and 80 series stock rear shocks are your cheapest route. However without weight in the rear you will probably be way high in the rear.

I have OME 882 front springs and Bilstein shocks, rear is 80 front 8 wraps and 80 stock rear shocks (need to be replaced as one is blown.) My tires are 255/85/16 BFG KM2s

No weight on the rear: (No spare and no stock rear bumper.)

If you find 80 series parts to do the rear you shouldnt be more than $150 into the rear. If you shop around for the front you should be able to get it for ~ $200-$250. So a total of $400 or less is very possible. (Then you have to think about tires, etc.) Its easy for things to start adding up if you do not have a plan.

100 springs wont do anything for you.

Oh yeah post up some pics of your 4runner! ;)

Thanks for the info! I'm currently running 265's and really wanted to stay with that size. Im just looking for a more aggresive stance! 2.5 I think would be right. I want to stay with a level stance! I am not a fan of a rake! Really wanted to do this for >500 bucks if possible! Here is some pics of how it looks now!

$500 shouldn't be a problem if you check the forums regularly.

My Yakima set-up:

Front bar is Q towers and fairing and the two rear bars are control towers (I think) They fit inside the factory rack tracks.
I had the Q towers from my '89 pickup and the control towers were supposed to be Q towers but they were not once they got to me (friend picked them up off Athens CL) Did not know what I would use them on then when I bought the 4runner I thought it might work so I tried them and they worked great.

Craigslist is the place to look for Yakima parts. I need to find another 2 Q towers for my T100 :) The clips for it are on the way, eBay $19 shipped for 4 clips, cant beat it. If you go with the Q towers just be sure to measure and get it setup right, I had a friend who put one on his '09 Altima and he didnt measure it out and it came off going down the highway. Tried to get Yakima to pay for the damages and they told him he had it 1/4" out of adjustment. The fairings are worth it too, they really cut down on wind noise.

We have a RocketBox too, its an older model, but I like the looks of it more than the newer ones.
Rack made it on our 7K mile strip this summer.

sooo...what springs would give me a more level stance? would the 265's look too small? thanks guys! keep sending me ideas!
Keith

OME rear springs 906 (light weight) or 890s (medium weight).

You could also look for '99 tall springs all around to give yourself a small lift ~1-1.5"

So I'm looking for...

882 Front
906 Rear

1. Approx. how much lift will this provide?
2. Do you recommend longer shocks for this setup? If so, any recommendations?
3. Will 265's look okay?

Sorry so many questions....I have just looked at so many options online....I really like some local opinions and ideas!

881 is medium for the front, mine (882) is extra heavy, but with plans for a front bumper and a few other goodies it rides OK, several guys over on 4runner.org say 882 are rough, but I don't think so.

Rears 906 or 890s. You will need new shocks all around. Your best bet is to find someone selling either a complete setup or front or rear and piece it together like that, if you start piecing parts together then $ will add up faster, especially if shipping is involved. (Then again my theory is to usually find the most affordable option and live with it.)

265s will look fine, I am really considering going back to 265s for MPG. The 255/85s look so good though. ;)

All OME is rated at 2.5" of lift, they are just made to carry extra weight. This is a good link http://cruiseroutfitters.com/sus_4runner_gen3.html I think his lifts are based off of a 99 with the tall springs though, so add ~ 1" to his heights.

sweet rack....wish they were a little closer! now if you can just find me the springs for a screamin' deal!

My brother in-law goes to UGA and may be able to pick it up if you could work out $ with the guy. Also Bob lives somewhat near there and he should be at the annual on Saturday.

I'm keeping an eye out for a lift. ;) there have been a few pieces parts over on toyota-4runner.org but no screaming deals.

No problem I understand that. Will you be at the annual on Saturday? We plan to be there and you can check ours out.
