Hello Taco/4Run Ppl

I'm looking at getting an LC with the 3rz-fe engine in it and am wondering about its fuel consumption and reliability etc. I presently run a Prado with the 1kz-te diesel and am thinking maybe the 3rz-fe would be a better choice with parts and service being easier to get. Any thoughts? Thanks

They're reliable enough that people are putting them in their mini trucks in place of the 22re. And I hear you get 17+ MPG's as well.

I've had my 2003 Tacoma since new now at 86,000 miles. Zero issues. I checked the valve clearance at 60k per the book and almost everything was in spec I just swapped shims around to optimize valve clearance.

Nothing but good things to say. In a 4WD regular cab Tacoma I get 19-22 MPG like clockwork. I'm certain it would be less in a LC.

Just one opinion though.

Eric

I've got 33" tires, 3" lift, plate bumper, and a fiberglass shell on a '99 extended cab. I consistently net around 15-18mpg. It gets better on the interstate due to not having regeared it for the tires. No mechanical issues aside from a starter replacement and it's got about 120,000 miles. So it's barely broken in.

Pics of said LC?
