Hello all,

I have a 97 4runner v6 and have on 2-3 occasions had the die suddenly while I was wheeling. Sometimes on an incline up or down and it starts right back up. Obviously something electric, any suggestions where to look or has this happened to others.

Thanks,

Might want to look into cleaning out the MAF sensor (link in my sigline)

Mileage?
Last tune up?
Erratic idle?
Timing belt service done?

Mileage?
164K
Last tune up? 2yrs ago, major service at 153K timing belt, water pump, plugs, etc.
gets about 15mpg with 33s
Erratic idle? no, smooth as can be and no other engine troubles whatsoever
Timing belt service done?
yes, about 10K miles ago.
was not sure if there was some sort of electrical connection issue.

One thing to note, I did get a p0133 error, which is the forward O2 sensor, I just ordered and now am waiting to put it in. From what I am reading, they recommend changing them every 75-100K whether or not the light is on or not.

I was also thinking of replacing the alternator with one of those mean green ones as I have a winch, etc. No problems with the current one though.

I am pretty anal about maintenance (Thank My Dad for that) so, I am not sure what else it could be.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I'd take apart the positive battery cable end on the battery and clean the crap out of it. I had all kinds of issues with my truck for about 4 months still I realized the connection from the clamp to the cable was super dirty. Also make sure everything is tight and its not grounding itself out on something.
