I'm a novice, but enjoy working on our spare 8/1992 Land Cruiser. I've put a lift kit on it and rebuilt the front axle a couple of times.
Now the engine is shot (Compression check: 1-118, 2-0, 3-120, 4-108, 5-120, 6-118). I need to do something. . .
Choices:
1. Rebuild it myself. Again, I'm an idiot and have never done it before. But since it's a spare vehicle, that's the fun of it all. The "toy" in Toyota! Wouldn't be able to do it until spring, after the bathroom is renovated, don't have room for both.
2. Bring it into Shreve's Engine Rebuild. Quick, more expensive, but not as adventurous.
3. Take the whole summer and redo engine, transmission, front diff, transfer case, rear diff, drive shafts, brake calipers front & rear etc.
I figure it'll be good for another 20 years.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Realize I've got a small house with a 1-car garage and not a lot of space. Also, I'm a novice, but think I can figure out anything
