Does anyone know if the fj80 mount is the same as the 62?
thanks

I believe I've seen mention of the 80 frame rails being spaced closer and the mount brackets being different as a result.

Just thought I should post some info for future readers of this thread. The 80 series and 62 series engine mount brackets are the same. I just bolted mine in the 40 today. Thanks a ton for the info on doing that.

Are you meaning the 80 series that carried the 3FE?

Yes, he pulled an FJ80 engine and installed into an FJ40.

But if the 3FE swaps over direct, does that mean the 1FZ will also swap over, since the 1FZ is designed to replace the 3F?:hhmm:

Made some progress on the 40 today, cleaned up the throttle body and put together the intake and assorted goodies.

Also put on a new steering coupler I've had in a box for ages since mine was falling apart and a bling stainless tray I picked up:

You can see in the last pic that the ignition system is back together along with the starter etc. Need to figure out how to run my PS hardlines across and install the radiator, but nearing the end of the mechanical portion of the swap. So I started digging into the part I've been procrastinating about:

I've got a complete harness out of a '77 in the garage, I'm thinking now I'm probably going to tear into that and just install the whole thing. Mine was pretty chopped up when I started pulling it down from the dash :frown:

Slow progress, pulling wiring harness's apart and ordering fuel system parts. Ended up going with the Aeromotive in line pump and using as much as I could of the Fj62 engine side fuel plumbing. I'm also having DS portion the high pressure PS line lengthened to reach my mini-truck box.

You can also use 5/16 brake line and flare on the Toyota fittings.

Who do you think is going to have their FJ40 on the road first? You or David?
I'll buy the winner a round of beer!:D

someone has been walking all over that thing. You should send it back. Tell you what, I will take that one, get them to send a replacement.

Congrats. How long to get that installed? seems more than a weekend.

Good luck!

Great timing, just in time for Novemberfest. You should smash a bomber of Hacker-Pschorr across her bow, just to make it official...but only after drinking the beer.
