Actually got to work on the 40 a bit on Sunday, nothing major but progress ;) Got the drive shafts bolted back in, with the ebrake/cable, speedo cable, skid plate etc -

Also did some fixing on Sea Knight's '82 hub, but a lot more of this -

I've amassed most of the parts I was missing, the FPR VSV and various hoses for the fuel system. Hopefully make some real progress after the Holiday's

Lee pontificating...

Thanks for the brewskis and the parts! I'll get the rim back to you in 6 months...;)

Had the day off today and finally got some time to play with all the parts I've been collecting, lots of little things to tie up. At least it's progress, can feel the end getting near ... err at least the parts table is getting empty :D

Power steering lines:

Also got a new oil filter and all new crush gaskets, put fluid in the engine/transmission/xfer. Have all the parts for my fuel system as well, so will be working on that next. Thought I had everything for the intake, but need a Supra 7M adapter from the MAF to the cone filter (thought it was a 3" outlet) :frown:

A little progress anyway -

Wow Tucker, great job! That is looking real good and I know who I will be hitting up for some help with the 4 door when the time comes to put in the heart in.
Keep up the good work!

Wow Tucker, my first look at the thread and you are getting there. I need to stop by and see her in person!

Got any info on those hose clamps, they look beef!

Looks great, I am planning on following your lead. Got all the parts, just need to find the time to tackle the wiring harness.

Look forward to seeing more! Especially about all the little things (Vacuum hoses etc)

The intake is all for aftermarket turbo applications, those are stainless t-bolt clamps made for the silicone hoses (constant tension). I ordered all that stuff from this site. Ordered some silicone hose (3.5mm) and nipples for the vacuum system Monday, hope to have some pics after the weekend ;) Fuel and vacuum are the goal this weekend -

Been slacking on the project, but need to get after it to have her ready for the maiden event in March (LSLC Roundup). Couple of small projects I never got around to posting up ...

Plugged the manifold with a 3/4" NPT plug:

Doubled-flared the stock fuel line and used FJ62 hoses and filter (will be mounted to inner fender):

Finally got adapter to finish intake:

Next up is to plumb in the charcoal canister now that I've picked up a used separator, install throttle and cable, and put the front clip back on. I've also got a little side project I'll be posting details about due to a snafu when I was filling the t-case

Spent some time on the 40 this weekend, wrapping up lots of little things and getting it back together :)

Front clip installed:

PS lines worked out:

Fuel pump:

Aggravation - xfer case drain plug stripped out the aluminum threads in the case when I installed a new crush gasket. Decided to just tap it larger rather than mess with a heli-coil, tapped it to M20x1.5 and sourced a plug from a Subaru:

Also cleaned up and seam sealed the new floor pan that was welded in, painted it black to match the rest of the interior, and installed the transmission hump. Project continues tomorrow ...

Looking good! Thanks for the updates.

I did not realize you where making a video when it was fired up! It sounded great in person, and you could feel the exhaust from across the shop! :D

"Sweet!" indeed. Welcome to the 3FE brotherhood.

Congrats Tucker!!! That's such a good feeling hearing it run for the first time.

Spent the weekend finishing up small projects on the 40, re-covered my stock seats (thanks Shane), cleaned up and painted all the brackets, and installed the interior and carpet. Then I installed the cluster and heater and started running the coolant hoses (need to buy some), then ran new cowl drain hoses. Also ran the throttle cable through the firewall and installed my Weber pedal so she's drivable.

I went ahead and ran hoses from the tank vents to the fuel separator before I installed the cover, it's just plugged at the output for now but will need to hook up the charcoal canister (this was all deleted previously). Found a small leak at injectors 3 & 4, will have to pull the plenum and re-seat the o-rings :frown:

Hope to have it at the muffler shop by Wed to have the y-pipe made :)

Tucker
