Glad I was able to help. Man it was hot today. Good thing you had refreshments on hand. :D:beer::cheers:

Rounded up the crew this morning and got the driveline installed, took about two hours at a leisurely breakfast taco and coffee pace:

In case anyone out there is looking to do this swap, I used the stock 2F passenger side mount:

And 3F DS mount slotted 1/4" towards outside:

This effectively centered the engine exactly where a 2F would sit, I was not worried about shifting the motor towards the PS because I've got the short booster on my '76 that allows plenty of room for the Master to clear the intake runners:

Notice this way there is plenty of room for the stock rear hook and fuel hardline to cross the rear of the head:

Couple of pics of the stock 2F bell housing and transmission mounts:

The only thing that's going to be tight is the front exhaust manifold next to the mini-truck PS box:

Tucker you did the correct thing on the motor mounts, I wish we had done that on my 3FE.

Here is a picture of how tight my install is next to the brake booster. In the end, we finally had to grind off a unused mounting point on the top of the manifold that rubbed on the brake booster. From the manifold touching the booster transferred all the vibrations thru the booster to the body of the truck, It drove me nuts for month thinking the drive shaft was out of wack.

I have no idea? It came already installed on the truck. What ever it is, it does the job, my brakes rock!! :D

There is a sticker on the booster, crap... now Iam going to have to go look...

I'm guessing the 76 to 80 dual diaphragm stock booster. I have one in my 79, they're huge.

Mark, what gigantic brake booster are you using there?

I have no idea?

Mark, you're slippin' in your old age. We took that booster off a Unimog at the south Austin pick-and-pull. Does this jog your memory?

Tucker,

Props to you for this one post - it is a gold mine for folks looking to swap a 3FE into a 40/55.

Gracias!!!

Got to play with the 40 some this weekend, mainly bolting up all the accessories and main engine harness. Got the clutch slave installed along with the fork boot and vent, also installed the starter. Nothing too exciting to show, but progress ;)

Also cleaned up the cold start injector and installed the EGR blockoff plate and misc ports in the intake. I've got a bunch of diagrams downloaded, wiring starts in ernest soon -

A round file will make quick work of slotting the motor mount too if you don't have a mill handy. :)

Nice work tucker74. I'm doing the same swap myself (with help from some local Cruiserheads).
