Do you know what is wrong with that????

Abso-freaking- lutely NOTHING!!!

NICE.

lets put it on!

Going to be some work before that happens, really would like to get her running again before I take more apart. It's going to be winter here soon though, so you never know. One way or another I'm going to have a running 3FE40 for Katemcy this year, tub may have to wait until after that.

Slow progress, pulling wiring harness's apart and ordering fuel system parts. Ended up going with the Aeromotive in line pump and using as much as I could of the Fj62 engine side fuel plumbing. I'm also having DS portion the high pressure PS line lengthened to reach my mini-truck box.

I'm very interested in this part..
I'm in the same boat right now! just installed my motor in today! pretty excited about it but I now have realized I'm going to have to cut the cross member for it to fit.. :bang:
oh well..
Please can you post pics of the wiring harness and what you needed to pull out for the ECU to the AFM? I have no idea what all I need to keep..

Also when you put in the motor did you have to cut the holes wider to get the motor mounts to fit at all? mine are dead close but my passenger side seems to want to be slightly higher for some reason??.. its about 1/2" floating above the hole.. so its not a huge gap but still don't really want to crank it down.. I think it has something to do with the transmission mounts possibly.

Anyways here is where mine is sitting!!

as you can see I had to pull the E brake off to fit it in there...

I did basically what you did and just cleaned up the motor and painted it.. I also got my head redone at a shop..
hopefully it works out well!

Thanks for the thread!

Cheers

Which mounts did you use? I used the stock 2F PS and stock 3F DS, the 3F was slotted 1/4" towards the outside to make it fit. I also used the puck style 2F motor mounts, since they aren't offset ;) Why is it getting into your crossmember, the tcase should be exactly where it was?

Tucker

**edit - I read your issue, I'd go with the 1 piece case, the top plate on that 60 transmission is going to put your shifter in the wrong place too :( **

Or just use the 40/50 series 4-speed top cover on the 60 series tranny.

Yeah my case is not the split I guess.. Its just longer and for I knew I was going to run into this problem but I didn't really think about it at the time.

I have the same setup as you for the motor mounts. I have the 2F PS and a 3FE drivers side with the older style puck rubbers under.. I will get some pictures of them tomorrow evening. I ran the stock newer style mounts and it looked like it would fit fine actually? I need to experiment with it a bit.. but its weird how the PS mount is about 1/2" higher? its not on the frame at all... Not sure why its like that either but I think its something to do with the transmission mounts..

Doh- that sentence just jogged my mind ... the stock setup on the PS is to stack both transmission mounts. Here's a pic:

Where on the DS you have one under and one over the mount:

I bet this is what's causing your issue, I don't see one on top on the DS in your pic ;)

Tucker

No! That's not correct.

The rear mounts are always one above, one below. Stacking them as pictured means plenty of isolation in compression, but zero isolation in tension (against the bolt).

edit: Tucker, if the current setup works for you, the quick fix would be a longer bolt and one more puck on the bottom, to provide isolation to the bolt.

Yeah I wasn't really sure which way but it made sense still to have one on top and the bottom..? the PS side transmission mount is longer for the deeper frame mount..
I'm going to try a couple of things to see what is causing the problem.. It will have to be this Sunday before I can get a picture..

Anymore news on the wiring??
I just got my stock 3FE motor mounts back from the machiners.. they were going to cut a step into it so they fitting on the puck style mounts.... instead they just drilled a big hole right through instead...!!!! idiots..

So I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to fix that... maybe a cone washer or something.

Anyways I need help on the wiring.. I have the 88 harness on the motor right now and now I need to pull the cowl harness apart for AFM.. what else do I need from this harness??

Thanks

Ok so I found a wiring diagram last night for my 88 FJ62 on the Forum technical section.

This does help out so much!! made life so much easier.!

as far as I know here is the list of components that I needed from the Cowl harness:

AFM
ignitor
pressure regulator VSV
circuit open relay
Main relay
Alternator ?
the 2 connectors that connect to the engine harness (1988 is different from the 1989. the 88 has 2 one round and one small with 2 wires on green and green and red.. the 89 has just 1 connector)
oil pressure
a small wire that goes to the starter ?
from the circuit relay or maybe the main relay there is a wire that goes to the fuel pump.

there is also 2 wires that went to the fuse box that I cut.. 1 is a large red and yellow wire and the other 1 is a smaller black and blue wire which I know you need.

here is my links I used.

I think thats it for now.. there are others I'm sure.. if you had a FSM for the wiring it would probably be easier..
