hahah good point lol so im guessin its definatelly not... how about this, would it be enough exle for the power and tires?

was that transmission an automatic or standard??? cause i want to keep my truck standard... o and i have recently thought about the lil week dana 44... i want the 44 because its not a huge axle unlike the 60 even though a 60 would probably fit what i need better...

Automatic 700R4...built by a guy that builds transmission for drag cars. Trust me, the transmission wasn't the weak link.

those pictures look sick! and yeah i have officially ruled out the d44 but do you think a dana 60 would be too big? like over kill and just weigh my truck down?

This just reaffirms my position that you don't understand why you're doing mods to the truck, just that it'll be "sick" with all this stuff.

a 700r4 really couldnt handle the power of that 383? what the hell do people put behind the truck that are puttin out way more than 500 horse???

is it that they dont make a strong enough drive shaft or is it that you didnt want to spend a whole lot of money to get a strong one?

They make a strong enough everything, lol. Its just the price tag that goes with it.
You could go and get your self a pair of Unimog axles for 2-3 grand but do you REALLY need them.

Am I the only one wondering this???

Why put all that $$$ into a 3rd gen pick-up??? If you are coming into a lot of money??? by something really freggin cool and do all that to it. By a FJ45 Landcruiser pick-up or some kinda landcruiser. Throw some dana 60's under it, or Rockwell 2.5 ton axles, with four wheel hydro-steer. Now that is worth dropping some change into it.

or....

By the Toyota 3.4L V6 and the toyota supercharger and drop it in. then you can show them toyota has power. That was your original goal??? Get some chromo shafts and the toyota stuff will hold up fine with the toyota driveline. You will have lots of power, decent gas mileage (but you don't care), and you will stay light so you can go and enter in the local drag comps and maybe win... lol

I have owned 2 toyota pickups and a fj60 landcruiser. For crawling and mudding I'd rather go with a FJ60 or a FJ40 or something more like that. But for the trails and just doing crazy stuff. I LOVED my pickups. FJ40's are too short to jump, FJ60s are too heavy (maybe not on dunes but in general). Also the pickups have a bed for easy hauling, are almost as tough and generally a LOT cheaper. I've got my FJ60 still and I'm looking for a 1st gen toyota again just for a toy.

what no one liked my unimog axles idea ;P

why is an fj45 cool? everyone modifies those things... why isnt a badass black extended cab pickup badass? or cool?

Cool is in the eye of the beholder. Not everyone modifies an FJ45, there just aren't that many of them. Everyone modifies FJ40s....at least many have been modified. Quite common to drop a 350 into one of those. (Although it's also very common to stay stock with them, and, fully restored, they are Cool, FJ40 or FJ45 but we're talking real money and time to do that! We're also talking about a major chick magnet....at least if they have any taste.)

Please go install a 350 into this badass pickup of yours and let's see some photos. :D

FINALLY! someone that understands me and is encouraging rather than tryin to make me build somethin that i dont want to build!

It occurs to me that you may have read my previous post a bit quickly. I don't want to disillusion or discourage you in any way but let me point out a couple of things for the sake of clarity.

What I was trying to say is that a fully restored FJ45 or FJ40 is a very cool chick magnet, IMHO.

What I was further trying to convey (although in a very subtle way) is that I do understand that your mind is made up and no one is going to change it, therefore, just go and do it. I don't understand why you would drop a 350 into a Mini Truck but, hey; that's your business. It can and has been done.

We will all be interested in the write-up, results, and those all important photos when you are finished. So, hurry up and get to work. :D

An FJ45 is a pickup. There are not that many of them and they just have great style. It's a classic. An 90 pickup is not a classic. I'm not saying a 90's pick-up can't be cool. I have seen lots of sweet pickup trucks on the trail. It doesn't seem like it is worth it to dump that much money into it. Hey, But that is your call. Everyone has there own ideas. Heck people told me just fix my 700R4 when it went out, but I didn't listen and put in a SM465. I love it!

I think WarDamnEagle summed it up pretty well...''

So get to work and let's see this crazy beast you have conjured up in your head.

what I'm not the fist w/ the idea and no one liked my unimog axles idea ;P
Fixed ;)....:p
LoL, are you sure you ment fist and not first? ;P
The only reason I mention those is I have a friend with a suburban and he wants them but doesn't have the money so he's trying to convince me to get them for my FJ60.
I won't argue that they rock though ; )

Because then you look like Marty McFly and that went out in the 80's....
