Still badass!

The bumper and roll bar could go.... :D

If you're going to start taking stuff off it, it is no longer "badass" as it sits... :flipoff2:

And I might be inclined to say it's "cool" or "nice" but I don't think it reaches "badass" status

What the hell were we talking about in here anyway?

That just means I cought you in the act ;P

I think we were talking about some odd numbers ?!? 350 ?!? 383 ?!? with ?!? unimog ?!? thrown in there ?!?

I loved Marty McFlys black toyota.

Its your truck and your money. Do what you wish with it. You are young. A lot of these guys are speaking of experience and are trying to give you an honest opinion.

My personal opinion is that if you want something that his high horsepower and good for running in the mud. Get a different truck. Swapping motors, trannys and alxes is a lot of work. Is this your daily driver right now? What will you drive for the months or years that this will will not be roadworthy. What are the inspection laws in your state. Gas is expensive and is gonna get worse

I would rather see you modify an old mini truck then do what you are planning to a classic 45. But maybe thats me being a 45 snob ;p

that truck is almost perfect..... it just needs to be a little taller... but i think its sexy as hell! i love the blacked out and the bumper and roll bar with the lightsss! is that the actual truck from back to the future?

sorry but my truck was definatelly voted sexiest truck at acadiana high 3 years in a row sooo apparently mcfly is badass... and im the first guy people call when they are stuck or wanna see how big a whole is. and s*** mcfly's truck is fricken awesome!

I'm going to do you a favor and save this here for posterity. So when you get to be my age you can look back on it and say "WHAT the F- was aI thinking...."

It answers a lot of questions about this thread for me though....Your truck is apparently older than you are...

the truck is definatelly not older than me. and the reason i want this is because my dad had it all except for the blower, i was just curious on that one, i just wanted to see what all of yall thought about the project. but he definatelly did have 14 bolt in the rear and 60 in the front but i wanted to see if i could save a little money with the d44's because dont the old big surburbans have them? and they have a pretty dam big engine.

The ones with Dana 44's had a 305, MAYBE a 350 pushing at most 250 horses. You can run a 383 with dana 44's and MAYBE 33's! We blew the front hubs up in a mud run on a open Dana 30 with about 400 horses (FUN!). I blew my stock auto lock hubs out of my 10bolt (equivalent of 44's) with 31's and a 305. The fact being you will need at least a 60 or 14bolt in the rear and a HD 10b or D44 in the front at the very least. With a max of a 38"tire and absolutely no heavy foot in 4wd. Best bet, if you are set on doing this, would be find a 1ton Solid Axle, Single Rear Wheel, 4spd (sm465), 205 tcase. Youre gonna have a FF14bolt (full floating), Hopefully a D60 (probably a HD 44 or 10bolt) and either a big block (more fun than a 383) or a 350. Heck, you could end up with a 400 small block! We used a 3/4 Gmc truck drivertrain in our Heep Scrambler. 400 horses out of stroked Amc 360, and so far weve went through 2 powertrax lockers on the the FF14Bolt and a hub on the front HD 10bolt turning 38's!

Good luck, have fun, build safe!

Suburbans (or any GM truck for that matter) haven't had D44's since about '76. I came from the FULLSIZE Chevy world before I got my Toy. :)

man I think that would be a killer rig. A stock 3.0h (is he 4.3?) running to two trannys and then Unimog or Volvo axles.....from what I've experienced 3.0h's love to turn high rpm's. mine doesn't flinch......or 3.4 :D

he's got the WB (and money) for it, and it would save him millions cause a V8 (IMO) would be over kill......(and what say the majority of people that have once had V8's in there rigs?)

he could run the rear tranny in any gear he wanted on the street, but I'd do 4th, and I think it would fly! Hwy, I'd do 5th and get some MPG.

Dont need a crawl box
Dont need a beefed up DT
Dont need to buy fuel by the tanker truck...
???

Do get Toyota dependability
Do get some mpg
Do get some driveability
???

:D

Honestly pick yourself up an 80's creseda or supra and put a 5mge or 7mge in that thing. It will bolt in using the 5mge mounts and bolt up to the tranny. You'll have to rout the exhaust out the other side and do some playing with the radiator hoses. Also the EFI wiring can be a pain but other than that you have a 6 in your truck and it'll have a lot more power.
(need to buy one I have one in my back yard ; )

yeah the dual tranny's sound cool and all but i also wanna be able to mudd drag from time to time cause thats what the rednecks around me do with their ugly cooter trucks. and if i get a supra engine i definatelly want it in the car!

o and also this most likely wont be an everyday driver although it will be able to be driven on the road and i probably will from time to time. i really want an early model tundra on 38 ish inch tires. blacked out... stealthy but still stupid mean looking and is definatelly still a toyota!

This is like the most pathetic thread ever. Nick-are you 18 yet? You need to spend some time (not money) and learn your truck, it's limits, and mods you like and don't before you hack into it. If you do hack into it, make sure you spend some of your dough on a reliable daily driver, because the mods you dream of, will take months if not years to become reality.

If you are "coming into a lot of money" what are we talking here? Enough to get an education? If you're getting that much, just go buy a vehicle that been done right, or send your truck to someone like Marlin and pay have it done right. What seems like a lot of coin to a 17 year old, is often pocket change when it comes to building trucks, but more money is always good!

Going to all the effort and expense to get power you can't use is silly, and rebuilding a truck around a drivetrain that is too strong for the chassis is also silly.

If you are going off road with it, it may surprise you to learn you don't need power. I've been a lot of great places over the last 10 years with just the 125 hp of a 2F. More power just means more stuff breaks, and based on the questions you ask, it doesn't sound like you have a clue about fixing your rig when it's a long walk to civilization. BTW-38 or 40 inch tires make it a certainty you are going to break a lot of parts. 35 is a good practical limit with Toyota running gear, maybe 37s if you have things under control and stay off the gas.

Anyway, if you're building a show truck, a domestic is a more practical starting point. JMHO.

I'm a big fan of practical and reliable, you know, kind of like you have now.

I'm sorry but this thread caused me to write this:

drool

I'm thinking what to do with my 4runner when I get my huge financial windfall, I'm sitting here minding my own business trying to sell Lamborghini's and my dad dies. Its OK because he left millions to some locked up "beneficiary". All I got was the rose bushes, I MEAN ROSE BUSHES! I GOT THE ROSE BUSHES, at least I got the rose bushes, and a Lincoln fireball 8 what ever the heck that is :flipoff2: My build involves Lexus paddle shifter valve body, and a LS400 V8 so I'll be watching...........................NICE :grinpimp:

:hhmm: how can i get those millions?........... <click

......
