ok Gang heres the deal im going to put a tpi 350 in my 80 and need as much info as possible also putting the 3 f in my 40 as well as far as the 80 goes i maybe using a 60 t case instead of the stock 80 case but not sure yet thats why i need info Lol

I think the FJ80 had the same 19 spline as the 60?
From what I can gather, youll need to get the harness from the donor 3FE motor to run and swap it into the 40. Youll most likely wanna do a de smog too since you dont have that in Fallon. There are GOBS of threads on this in the 60 section and it supposedly wakes the motor up quite a bit as well.

I'm pretty sure AA sells Marks' adapter for a V-8 to stock FJ 62 Cruiser transmission.

Well lookin at a 4L60 possibly not sure have to find some thing out first like adapters and such but then again thats why im askin hehe the 4L60 is for the 80 as far as the 40 goes i want to keep the sm420 that i have in there now but use the 3f motor

Is there something wrong with the F in the FJ40?

Transplanting the 3FE seems like a lot of work for not much gain in terms of HP or economy.

I'm just saying if your going to go to the work of doing an engine swap on the 40 you might as well give it a V8 too. Plus it has been done around 450,000 times so it's well documented and all the parts are easy to find.

Unless you just want a challenge.

x2 on this!
If youre looking for FI, a throttle body on the SBC would be relatively inexpensive and require less wiring conflicts.

well i have the motor so im doin this on the cheap or at least as cheap as possible the f Motor in my 40 is really really tired and needs help and besides i dont want a v8 in it ill lose to much wieght and tork doing that mod. thats why im stickin with the 6 im not worried about economy in the 40 and i will gain some with that swap but my main concern is the 350 swap into my 80 thats what im workin on the logistics for for the most part the 40 swap will be pretty simple for the most part as long as i can keep my sm420 ill just have to have a high volume fuel pump to handle the injection system and i will already have the comp out of the 80 so no biggie there just wiring and gettin rid of the smog crap off that 3 f motor or as much of it as i can

Well i got to thinkin what about a v8 out of a lexus or a tundra wonder if they would be more plug and play than doing the chev 350 swap

Or if i can find a hundy complete drive train that might work as well

Well, quick and easy just went out the window. None of those options are either. Much less trying to get a late model toyota wiring harness figured out and running. Do a chevy and be happy. MUCH more aftermarket support for both parts/power/ease and wiring solutions.

Toyota sucks for swapping, they don't release the source codes for their injection systems, so anytime you see "performance" Toyota stuff, most of the time, they have to use a "piggyback" computer to make everything work. It is very hard to strip the unneeded stuff out of a Toyota computer.

Ty Jack for the advice was hopin you would add your knowledge to this deal i didnt think any of it would be quick and easy but was hopin it might be somewhat easier with a hundy swap or such but looks like ill be going chevy after all as far as the 40 goes it shouldnt be to bad because ill already have the comp and wiring but will be tough getting it all together but im game i like a challenge Roflmao

3fe swap has been documented here, not that bad, wiring isn't that hard....

the small block into a 80 isn't bad... I would spend the $ and do a 5.3 vortec..with a trans they are less than a grand from a wrecking yard. computer reflash is 200$.. pleanty of hp...

good luck.. post some pix...
