I bought a 2L TE engine from JDM Engine Depot just before Christmas it took two weeks to get here, having to deal with broker. Once it got here my mechanic was tied up with repair of NB Power Trucks and could not get to it for a week.

My original plan was to replace the head with a 3L head but I read the warrenty and found that would void the warrenty. I emailed JDM to confirm this and told them I would wait until the 90 day warrenty was over. The replied that the 2L TE is considered a high proformace engine being that it has Turbo and would only have a 30 day warrenty.

They have the engine in the truck and should have it ready today, but that will leave me with 7 days left on the warrenty. Is this fair and would the 2L TE be considered a high proformace engine.

I would consider any engine over a certain horse power (maybe 200hp) should be considered high performance... but that's just me... This being said a 2LT doesn't make 200hp...

If they think a turbo makes something high performance I disagree. That's just my opinion though...

We've driven an old inline 6 cherokee jeep around for weeks with water from a murky puddle in it... got a new puke tank, drained and filled with coolent for winter never had an issue other than the uni body ripping apart towing a guy out, basically ruining the truck, gas tank on the ground along with the hitch and rear cross member... That being said I wouldn't recommend murky puddle water... lol

30 day engine Warrenty

Drop by the mechanic shop yesterday and they had started it up and there was oil coming out the air intake.

See if you can talk to the supplier and get the warranty from when the engine arrived to you or better still, from when the mechanic installed it. All you got to do is ask, they would have to realise it takes time to travel and install.

Give them a bell, they may be good about it

30 Day Warrenty

I have phoned them and told them that it took two weeks to get here and the mechanic is only been able to get at it till know but they are like a broken record. The warrenty is 30 days from the invoice date.

My mechanic is going to call them on Monday and talk to them. The Turbo is faulty and was blowing oil into the air intake. He is also going to check the timing belt and oil pump that may have to be replaced but may take some time to order.

The problem I have is that none of the mechanics in the area will touch a diesel engine. There is only one mechanic in over a 100 miles and his main customer is NB Hydro. He works on bigger rigs and calls my truck an nuisance job.

Sounds like you are dealing with ass holes and you must know by now these engines do not have a good reputation, which is not a good mix.
Not being allowed to fit a 3L cyl head shows that you are also probably dealing with idiots because the 2LT head is no longer available and Toyota list the 3L head as a replacement(according to others)
There is no dividing line between a high performance engine and others. The only way you could justify it being called a high perf engine is by comparing it to the non turbo 2L engine.
