Don, is there any seal behind the air filter in the filter housing? or its just a matter of putting the airfilter and tightening the nut?

@ALEXY , sorry for the late reply, I’ll take a photo when I get home. I’ve been working crazy hours the last two days.

@GTSSportCoupe , @Nas90tdi, @JimmyPrado thanks for the positive input on the rims. I’ve never had black rims, only silver / clear coated alloys for my entire driving life, so it visual thing at this point, and maybe time for a change.

Definitely gonna give it a few months before doing anything drastic.

Pulled the front and rear bumpers and the majority of the trim today in anticipation of a paint job.
Only door handles and locks to go. Basically, prepping to prep. Best SWAG on this color is Electric Storm Blue 8X7 or Speedway Blue Metallic 8P1. Time for a coin flip.

Cleaned up the side windows today in preparation of post-paint install. Was prepared to by new "runs" and "seals" but overall, they were in decent shape. They cleaned up nice and slide smooth after 29 years of grit was cleaned out of there.

well, surely interesting for those with 2lt engines in their trucks!

i just ordered a new aftermarket exhaust line with same specs with factory (375 euro in germany) and Ill get it installed in march. the brand is imasaf, an ebay pick, produced in italy somewhere. claimed to be oem for alfa romeo? its aluminized steel, so nothing very fancy.
as far as I understand ,the final silencer section is discontinued by toyota for our spec lj.

water temp on mine definitely climbs more, but manage to have egt usually no more then 600-650 post loader (still loads) on ups.

How did the imasaf exhaust work out for you. I just ordered directly from the Italian manufacturer. Interested if it made any changes to the turbo back pressure. I currently have a shirt side exhaust but it’s annoying on long trips.

Well, Finally got the LJ back after two weeks at the body shop. I'm not super stoked, but it is acceptable for what I paid. A bit of over-spray on the frame & exhaust. The "A" pillar & driver side gutter are not what I expected (not very smooth). No huge smile on my face, but no tears either. I'm glad to have her back on property.

Parts, seals, and miscellaneous trim pieces are slowly trickling in and getting the LJ70 pieced back together accordingly.

The only real hurdles getting her stripped down and back together were the side slider windows and the outer weather strip on the driver's and passenger's door. The inner weather strip not so much as the outter. The outter has plastic clips that probably crack due to their age.

Here is a link to getting the side windows in:

Here are the new Outer Weather Stips with plastic clips.

Inner Weather Strips have metal clips which seem much more durable.

Decided to repaint the turbo heat shields since they didn't look that great with some high temp VHT paint.
They got bent during shipping when I bought this JDM motor. Hammered them back into shape best I could.
Not 100% but better than before.

I'm having a bit of trouble rolling up the driver's side window. The painter pulled out the vertical runs (the run that goes all the way around the top of the window) out to paint, but somehow it got tweaked and needs some adjusting.

If anyone has pulled this seal all the way out and re-done it, I'd appreciate any tips or time saving advice.

I'm probably gonna get a new one since I don't have A/C and it does get hot out here in the summer.

There is just way too much resistance rolling this window up.

My Toyota "T" backing plate bolt snapped on my grille emblem a while ago, so decided to go with the "TOYOTA" Grille Emblem versus the original "T" that it came with. I'm not sure I like it 100%. I was expecting silver letters, but these are definitely white.

Don, dont force the window crane, the metal is not superstrong. I took mine out after it got stuck and teeth needed filing and regreasing. Could do with a new one for sure...

@ALEXY you are correct. There is just too much resistance for it to be acceptable. I believe the nomenclature & part numbers are the following, but not 100% sure:

Seal Front Door Lower Frame (LH) #67482-90K02

Run Front Door Glass #68141-90K03

Run Lower #68143-90K00

The last too items not being side specific LH/RH.

Gonna roll the dice and purchase. Doesn't look like it will be a lot of fun to install these.
Lots of soap and cracked fingers. But in the end, a necessary fix.

@i4c4lo , Thanks! Here you go.
Just remember these part numbers apply to 1989 and some prior year LJ70s, not 1990 and after.

Dobinson Springs (stock height are: Front C59-084 and RearC59-085)
Bilstein Shocks (Front Bilstein 24-010337; Rear Bilstein 24-011877 & 24-011884)

Cool Handle by the way!

Hey Don,

Thank you. Yeah its actually my license plate - I saw I4CSNO in Colorado in the early 90's and that is where I got the idea. I saw I4CCFM (he was a rafting guide).

Where did you order your suspension from?

Thanks again!!!!!
