I have a 1984 BJ42 with a 3B diesel. The charging system doesn't work and I am in the process of getting it up and running again. My voltage regulator is mounted to the firewall. It is a Nippondenso with number 27700-57030. There are 5 wires attached to the regulator. These parts are apparently obsolete now. Anyone have any ideas where I could find a 24v voltage regulator and an alternator? :bang:

how gone is it? Would a rebuild suffice

My alternator has the vacuum pump attached on the back of the alternator. Unfortunately the splines are just about gone on the shaft and the alternator shop cannot find a new shaft.

Part number you give for the regulator is a Toyota part, enter it on the page linked below.

I don't know if that means they have it available, I am in the UK and use that site to check if part numbers are current if they are replaced to tell you the new number.

Also have a look at this http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_E_1984_TOYOTA_LAND+CRUISER_BJ42L-MCW_8401.2.html

Another idea would be to mount a separate vacuum pump and an alternator with integral regulator.

Anyone know if it's possible to fit a 12V alternator and just charge one battery, would the other one also charge?

Hello i am expecting my 3B engine to arrive in Panama in a few weeks, the 24volt alternator is still on it .This engine is from a Euro spec BJ73,i will sell it(the alternator NOT the engine) once everything is arrived here, can you send me a picture of the regulator you need maybe there is one in my home in Belgium(but my dad has to look for it so i need the picture)

I tracked down a alternator for a 1986 HJ60 which is 24 volt and needs an internal regulator. I believe the internal one is still available (Toyota part # 27700-57050 or 57051). The next step is to learn to read a wiring schematic so I can take the old external regulator off and sort out the extra wires. Any suggestions?
