ok all you welders out there looking at the lincoln 180. they seem to be the best for my price range. the question is i dont see the difference between the pro mig 180 and the power mig 180. except that the power mig comes wit continuous voltage select, which i dont know if i need or not but may come in handy. i just dont understand the 300$ price difference betweeen the power mig and the pro mig. so someone plaeses shed some light on this and maybe save me some money for other toys. like a good welding helmet. anyone with any recommendations?

thanks all

Before you buy, I'd search for the Hobart Handler 187 from Toolking.com thread. If you buy a Lincoln welder from Home depot or Lowe's, it will be of lesser quality than if you buy from a welding shop. They are not the same.

HH187 will output more amps than the Lincoln 180.

$ 519.00 delivered.

Infinitely variable voltage setting is really not needed. Most people, including myself, don't really care for them since it takes more time to dial in the arc (you have to deal with 2 variables instead of 1). I can get all of the adjustability with wire speed settings.

On welding helmet, get the Miller Elite helmet. $217 delivered on flea bay. You can save $$$ by gettting a helmet without the fancy graphics.
