Diving in head 1st.
Had my head inspected. They milled it and gave it the ok.
Picked up a short block, plus a whole lot of parts on Friday, minus an oil pump which was supposed to be included with the short block but were out of stock.
My hope was to hit it hard this weekend and have it assembled and installed by Sunday Night. Never seems to work as planned though does it?
Friday night I had the motor out, which was my goal.
Spent 3 hours on Saturday morning chasing a couple of parts, so my morning was already shot. Planned to call it a day by 3pm as I had a friend from MN passing through town for the night. Didn't get squat done Saturday.
Also while disassembling the old motor, I found that the oil pick up tube was crushed. Shouldn't have been a big surprise due to what the motor had been subjected to, but it hadn't crossed my mind. Seems to be a part than no one stocks, and toyota wants just shy of $200 for.
I wasn't too keen on paying $200 for a little metal tube so I though I'd hit the junkyard. Spent 1.5 hours trying to pull the pan, but the truck I was trying to pull it from had lots of front end damage, and I couldn't get it out. Another morning shot.
I was detirmined to make some progress today, so I started assembling the motor. Here is where I am at.
I'm buying a new pan and oil pick-up from a guy in denver. Should be here by tuesday. Until then I'll just keep assembling.
