Manual states if the rig is in high mode, 4lo and stuck, it will AUTOMATICALLY raise nearly an additional inch above the high height. Has anyone seen this actually happen? How can we "force" it?

Funny you mentioned this because I was just with a friend looking at one and the sales guy mentioned it.

That said l, I sure would not "force it to engage" at that height all down travel is gone and even the slightest bump will transfer the shock of having essentially no suspension through the vehicle.

That same friend currently has a diesel Grand Cherokee with air suspension (with too many problems) And when we drove once on its highest setting it was unbearable even on flat gravel road.

That extra high setting is really a last ditch effort to free a vehicle stuck at a lower setting, because banging on suspension components for a bit is better than being stuck.

Our Land Cruiser of course does not have this but the Land Rover LR4 had it. I don't remember how we could "force" it other than using the key fob. With the LR4, you could be outside the vehicle with the engine off and use the remote key fob to adjust the suspension height. But I don't know of anything like that on the LCs. And as Taco2Cruiser said, you don't want to drive in the emergency mode. It exists to help you recover if you get high centered on a rock or something. Of course even that doesn't work if you don't have a solid foundation under wheels. I know as I got myself stuck in deep, wet snow once and raising up the LR4 didn't help. The weight of the vehicle just push the wheels down more until the chassis was high centered again.

I certainly understand why we would not want to drive around for any distance like this . I was asking more out of curiosity. These LX570 have so many nuances that I am always learning about. I paid alot for it and I am trying to enjoy the details. :)

I'm sure with enough electrical bypasses it could be accomplished. Some time with a Toyota manual and electrical diagrams could show a way to fool the computer into thinking it's stuck. just research the path the system takes during operation.

Yes it was much easier on older trucks to do what you want, but there is still nothing on these new ones that deny the user from configuring it how they want.

It's like when I cut and splice into Toyotas with stock rear lockers to allow them to engage whenever the user presses the button, and not only in low range.

Ok, so yes, the LX has this function. I have had it happen in mine when we took it out last Spring into deep snow and my wheels were spinning. I have no idea how you could manually activate it, but it does have the ability.

It will also automatically shift into high position from normal given the same circumstance. I had this happen too, on a different outing last Spring. Yes, last spring I was trying to get it stuck or as a minimum see how much snow I could plow through before I did get stuck.

Nope, never did get stuck, but I did get stopped. I was always able to back right out of the snow.
