I know the rear entertainment subject has been posted here before, however, anyone have any recent revelations with being able to use, say, an iPhone with the stock 2010 Land Cruiser rear entertainment?

The former posts I've seen are dated so perhaps there's something I'm missing. My rear entertainment works like new, however, I own one DVD (Napoleon Dynamite circa '04) which I happened to find this morning while cleaning out the garage. Sorry kids, it's a great show you guys will love it... haha. Would be great to figure out a way to utilize the stock player with a modern device.

Any input would be highly appreciated.

There's a thread around here that talks about using the input in the second row to connect iphones or media players (you can connect video game consoles etc too). I'm not sure if the 2010 has that input. My 2013 does.

I've tested a composite (? Red/white/yellow rca cable) to play a movie from an SD card. It worked -- you could see and hear the movie, but I wouldn't call it "awesome". I probably need to adjust the way I copies the movie to the card... But I'm too lazy. Youd just have to get the correct cable for your device to plug in.

I just made a run to goodwill to pick up a handful of DVDs for my daughter (some I probably donated years ago). I'll probably look at one of the digital video player options with rca outputs on Amazon to see how it works for future trips.

one of the nice revelations for at least the LX of that era is that it's a 6 disc DVD changer in the dash, so I just tossed 6 in to switch between.

so glad she can watch frozen and I can just let it go ⛄

I have a 17 so may not work exactly as I state…

But if you have RCA input you can buy all sorts of converters. You could do an rca to hdmi.

Then
1) hdmi to Apple lighting to mirror your iPhone or ipad
2) hdmi to Amazon firestick. And you can hotspot it to your phone and run anything depending on the signal strength of your iphone
3) hdmi to any number of micro players. Can burn 10-12 movies to these mini hard drive players and have a mini library to carry around.

I got three kids and avoid screen time at all cost. But sometimes when the moon is full and blood sugar is low you have to calm the monsters somehow.

I have an hdmi input and all those methods have worked for mine.

You can buy a hdmi to composite adapter from Amazon then use a lightening to hdmi from your phone. It’s a lot of cables adapters but it works. Also get a cigarette adapter to usb to keep everything charged

I see what you did there lol. Ya people bash the rear entertainment but it's great on long trips with little kids.
