From what I've read in other places, the Prado is 7/8 of a Landcruiser at about 3/5 the price........it comes close, but its no replacement for the real thing.

I read that the 120/150 is simply called "Land Cruiser" in some markets (including, I think, England?) because they no longer sell the 200 (too big, slow sales). So, the Prado soldiers on as the flagship in those markets.

The new Patrol looks really nice. It will be sold in the USA as a Infiniti QX but they also changed it drastically with IRS/IFS. It's a Sequoia competitor now, not Land Cruiser. Too bad.

Yes, the 120 and 150 were/are simply called Land Cruiser in markets like Europe but the 200 is also sold there and is called the Land Cruiser V8.

Owned the previous model Prado, slightly smaller, Prado and LC are more like sisters than cusins, both are very capable SUVs, usually made for diferent markets.
Just test drove the new Prado, not bad att all, very tall but this one had a 4 Cyl. 2.7L VVTI and felt a little under rated for the weight but stable and confident, loaded with features; AHC, KDSS....very good but nothing like the real LC.

In the US Market, the Lexus GX, foreskin, taco and fj loser all share the same chassis. The new 4R and Prado(GX) have switched over to the 150 chassis so the Tacoma and FJ Cruiser(if they continue it) will be next.

The 2010 FJC is supposed to be on the 150 chassis as well IIRC.

The 150 Series (Toyota Prado/Lexus GX) has such a high bonnet line that I think it will be much harder to work on if access to the engine bay is required.

A tall mechanic won't be too bothered, but doing stuff like fitting a 2nd battery, and air compressor will be just that bit harder.

The LC200 has a noticeably lower bonnet line. :D
