Steve -

Thanks for posting this. Chile Challenge was my first four wheel drive event back in 2003 and I had a blast. I scared the **** out of myself, but I had a blast. I would sure like to go down again. Anybody else interested?

The weather is usually up to around 70 degrees at the end of February down south, and it could be time to pull out the shorts for the first time since last summer.

Check out the website. There are great pictures from every trail to help you decide which ones are appropriate. But be prepared, their "moderate" may be equal to someone else's "hard" trail.

Steve beat me to it! I just got the email too and was going to post it.:D I would like to go again, but will have to see. I ran all but 2 of the extreme trails. Patzcuaro's Revenge is way too hard for me. the rest were a blast.

I will be going again this year. Probably come down Thursday afternoon and just run trails Friday and Saturday. Last year the weather was PERFECT, but I have been down there before when it was pretty windy too.

any takers?

Just curious if anyone is still planning on attending Chile Challenge? I am considering it, and would like to see some friendly faces as I begin off roading. Thanks:cheers:

Signed up for Tabasco on Friday and Habanero on Saturday. Can't get out of work to run trails earlier in the week, I've been going through the vacation time lately like Rosie O'Donnell goes through a Hostess factory.

Well you guys missed out on a good time. Registration was down this year, but that made the trails a little less crowded and Chile Challenge was still filled with great folks. Saw a couple of 80 Series down there and some mini trucks. Hardly any FJ40s, although there was a really nice one from Deming with a 4BT diesel in it.

I did Tabasco Twister on Friday. Ran it clean except for The Abyss, where I had to pull cable.

As a small consolation though I also got to pull a Jeep up the ledge.

Saturday I ran Habanero Falls. Made everything except for the optional left line at the end of the trail.

Hope to see more High Desert Cruisers down there next year, it is a good time!

looks great Harry! that last pic is awesome. I will try to make it next year, but I'm also shooting for Rubithon again.:grinpimp:

Harry -

Thanks for the trip report and the pics. I love that truck of yours! I was hoping to make it to Cruces this year, but work keeps getting in the way. Maybe next year!
