Luke is going to be heading the 2009 Trail Committee.

This is your chance to get your input into which trails are run and which campouts to make.

This was last years schedule to jog your memory.
Feb - Shubarth trail
Mar - China Wall
April - Metberry Gulch
End of April - Cruise Moab
May - Gold Camp/ Eagle Rock
June - Brighten the Sangres
July 4 - Independence
July - Buena Vista weekend
August - Mt Blanca
August - Spring Creek
Sept - Holy Cross
Oct - Webster/ Red Cone
Nov - Rampart Range/ Rainbow Falls
Dec - Christmas Tree Cutting

Please use this thread to put in you favorite trails and dates to run them.

There will be a trail schedule meeting after the normal February meeting to hash this all out and produce the schedule.

Thanks,
David M

Please submit any ideas you may have. There are other things to think about besides just the trails. Is anyone interested in running more than one run a month? I was thinking maybe two runs in the peak summer months. June, July, august? There are some great trails north of I-70 but not sure if anyone cares to drive that far. Gas prices are down, but from what I hear, are expected to hit around $2.50 by summer, possibly higher.
It was also proposed to run holy cross earlier in the year, as some members are missing that trip because of hunting season, but I hear that trail gets pretty crowded in summer.
lots to discuss, come to the meeting and be heard!! I live to four wheel, so leave it up to me, and we'll be touring all over Colorado!

From what I read the September Holy Cross trip was a great trip and the timing was good for many people from the Colorado Land Cruisers and Rising Sun so I don't know if it would be a good thing to change that just because it's not the best time for me. I would probably miss any run that was planned in September.

I wouldn't mind a couple more weekend camping trips but they are more difficult for a group to plan for.

I haven't spent much time North of I-70 so I would be up for a couple of trips in that direction.

Below is the schedule I played with. Seems like I can swap things around for ever but I will put this out to see if we can get comments on the different places.

Jan - Shubarth trail
Feb - Rampart
Mar - China Wall
Mar - Spring Creek
April - Metberry Gulch
End of April - Cruise Moab
May - New Mexico
May - Gold Camp/ Eagle Rock
June - North of I-70 camping
June - Brighten the Sangres
July 4 - Independence
July - Buena Vista weekend
August - Mt Blanca
August - North of I-70
Sept - Holy Cross
Oct - Webster/ Red Cone
Nov - Rampart Range/ Rainbow Falls
Dec - Christmas Tree Cutting

We're planning on being near Buena Vista for a couple of weeks close to July 4. Where is Independence? Any idea when you'll hold BV weekend? Thanks.

We live in N Idaho, but have a cabin near St. Elmo. We'll probably bring down our FJ40 and some ATVs.

Independance is near Penrose, CO which is west of Pueblo. One of the best hardcore trails in the state. The FJ40 in your sig should do well.

The last couple of years we have done our BV weekend on Labor Day.

Holy Cross is usually snowed in until late in the summer, we did it in Sep to avoid the august Rush.

We try to do some Varried 2 Runs Per month in the summer, One easy, one hard.. but even then we get some runs where 1-2 people show up..

Chuck, sounds like a good start!

I thought more about the meeting time for the trail scheduling and have decided that it should take place BEFORE the february meeting instead of after. Liberty toyota closes a little earlier in the winter months, and I just don't see us going anywhere after the meeting, as they usually run long. I was planning to show up an hour early at 6 PM. Hope to see everyone there.

New mexico off road park is cool, but the hard stuff is pretty hard.. 37's and lockers, sheet metal damage likely!.. and the easy stuff is well, Boring and short.. Maybe we should give them a chance to get more trails built before the club heads down..

6PM sounds good for me!

Was referring to chuck's may pick. July 4/ independence? you crazy? I like having doors. lol

Indy has become a tradition, although its usually only 2-3 rigs.. Indy is FUN on a new level.. Just take the doors off before the trip!

And we can always have a group that can run Liberty.. Its fun and lots of good rocks, but sheet metal Friendly!

I was just adding things to last years schedule and then posted it. May be we could hook up with the TLCA club in New Mexico to see if they want to show us a good time?

Maybe Grand Junction would be another choice.

After seeing Darwin take his 80 through Carnage I might be ready to try something like that. After more body armor and a winch of course.

They just changed the sign. Looks like we'll have to invest in some bigger tires.
