Looks like some good competition for the Chevy Suburban :hmm:

I am going to have a hard time justifying paying the extra $$$$ for the new 2008 LC vs the '08 Sequoia. Personally, I think the Seq looks as good or better than the new 200. The '08 LX is just plain hiddeous .

My personal opinion is that Lexus should have used the Sequoia for their upscale SUV. Then, because of its size would have been a true competitor to the jumbo sized premium SUV's from Cad, Linc, and Infinity. Toyota could have then kept the LC as its halo vehicle. Maybe offer it in a couple of trim levels versus the loaded only way it's sold now...I still have a had time swallowing the thought of a $70K + Toyota.

I don't agree with the LX comment. The new LX570's are ridiculously nice. I, personally, love the look. And the amenities and build quality are top-notch. And the thing is SO quiet! Anyway, the LC will always be the flagship model of SUV's for Toyota. Hence, it will always be the Lexus counterpart.

The Sequoia's are nice, too. If I needed something that big, that would be my #1 choice. I mean, what other vehicle can you put the kids in the back to sleep in AND tow a gigantic plastic ball up the hill to roll down in?? :D

Wow, what a monster. I'm liking the grill more and more. Looks a lot like the Tundra.

I bet it'll compete well with the jumbo SUV crowd....

I bought one a month and a half ago and already have 7k on it.It is a great rig and has, hands down, the best engine I have ever sat behind.I went to the dealer for a $3 gasket and walked out $60k lighter...be careful out there!

I never said the LX wasn't nice, just that it's not a very attractive vehicle. From seeing the many posts on this site and others I am definitely not alone in my assessment of the thing. To each his own I guess, but the LX's exterior leaves a lot to be desired (IMO). The interior is nice but the front and rear ends are wretched !! :bang:

There's no way in hell I would ever spent $80K + on something that looks like that !! :flipoff2:

I spoke with ARB not too long ago about a bull bar for the Sequoia and they said that the one for the Tundra should work just fine..If you are in the mkt for one I'd give them a shout and see if they have more info pertaining to it. The bull bar on the Tundra looks really nice so you can sort of visualize what it would look like on a Sequoia.

That would probably be practical, but I personally love the look of the front end and would hate to put anything on it that would impede the view(even if my wife would let me).I've got an old M37 for bashing through the woods.

I went up to my toy store last night and they had a LC and Seq side by side...I really think the Seq looks more burly, tough, manly than the 200. I know that looks aren't everything but IMO the 200 is a tough sell when you put the Seq into the equation. There are those people out there who just HAVE to have a LC. Those people are much more impressed with the "label" than the product..That's not always the case but there is a fair share out there that are very "label" conscious.. Don't get me wrong, I do like LC's a lot. But, I will at least admit that there ARE other options out there that might fit my needs just as well . The IRS in the Seq doesn't bother me one bit. For the off-roading that I do it will do just fine !! One of my other choices for a new vehicle might be a 2006 cpo LX. Price wise it is spot on to what a Seq LTD optioned up the way I would want costs. Tough decision.....

Here is something to chew on. When I was talking to the guy at ARB he made the comment..."They should have named the new Sequoia the LC XL !!" Now mind you, this is coming from a VERY pro LC company. That comment spoke volumes as far as I was concerned.

I own the Sequoia, so I am biased, but if you put the two vehicles next to one another, with the same price, I'll bet most people would take the bigger, better looking one.Off Road? I don't know how rich you have to be to take a $60k, let alone an $85k rig anyplace where it will end up damaged.Buy the Sequoia and spend the extra dough on a tricked out 40,60,80 etc. and a trailer.

Coog, what trim level Sequoia did you get? I was curious as to whether the front has parking sensors, or is it just on the rear? I know the commercial grade ARB bull bar for the 200 will not accept the front sensors..I'm trying to get very educated on as much as possible prior to any final decisions on what rig I will eventually get..

I bought the Platinum. The sensors are front and back. You can turn them off with a switch on the dash.I'm not sure I like this feature; I turn it off when trailer-backing and I found false alarms during a ice storm that were very distracting.I do like the back-up camera, though.I don't think you would suffer by going with a lower trim level, as they are all nice and really, it's all about the engine!

If I go with a Sequoia I will get a LTD. As far as I could tell from the brochure, the plat comes std with the 2nd row buckets. I prefer the bench 2nd row over buckets. Also, the plat come with 20" wheels, I prefer the std 18"s on the Ltd.

I bought the first one in the state of Kansas. It just happened to be a Platinum. The buckets work great for me, as I have a 12 and a 14 year old that need to be seperated!I'm not looking forward to putting new rubber on down the road, but I do like the looks. The Platinum also has the rear air suspension, which can raise or lower the height by 4"..very handy with a trailer.

It seems to me like the new Sequoia is a market that Toyota wasn't in before. The 4runner is damn near the same size as the old sequoia and a decent replacement although a little smaller. I think the true market segment that is missing is a small truck based SUV. Something to replace the 3rd gen 4runner. ANyway I sat in a new Sequoia and they are pretty comparable to a suburban. Although I think I'd rather have one with a small v8 diesel if that was an option. IIRC Suburbans will offer a small v8 turbo diesel for 09. I hope Toyota does the same.
