We have ~15,000 miles on the Highlander and the tires are already pretty thin. It has 245/55-19 Toyo A2 tires. Have not been very impressed with this tire.

Now for the question: Anyone know of a decent replacement tire in this size? Tire Rack has 1 choice (Bridgestone Dueler HL) that does not look that impressive. An option is upsizing to a 255/55-19 tire then there are a few more (Nokian WRG2 my first choice). I am just looking for more choices before I drop $1,000 to $1,500 for a set of 4 tires.

Any other Highlander owners dealing with this? There are complaints all over the web about these factory installed tires but it seems to be a "he said, she said" argument between Toyota and Toyo. I just need a good replacement tire sometime this spring / summer.

Thanks for any advice.

I put the Bridgestone H/L Alenza on my wife's Acura MDX, and we've been very happy with them - still looking very new after 15k. The Alenza's have received pretty good marks on tirerack, and I went with them based on strong positive feedback on the MDX forums.

So far they've shown good snow traction, and seem just as quiet as the old Michelin's I had before.

Thanks for the info. They do seem to be a better tire than the Dueler HL 400 (at least from most of the feedback reviews). If I go Tire Rack, that will probably be my choice.

Thanks again,

I got mine at Big O. Price was close to Tirerack, plus I got the warranty, free rotations, etc.
