Does anyone know how to fix the temp gauge for outside? i have read that its just a quick fix of melting the flux back on it but is this correct? Thanks for all the help.

The fix is well documented on other forums. Do a Google search and I'm sure you'll have it in about 5 minutes.
Yes. Either re-solder it or if the resistor isn't even there you can buy replacements from radio shack and solder them in. I followed the thread on tacomaworld to fix the 05 I had.
