Anybody know anything about 2006 2007 Chevy 2500 series Duramax with the LBZ motor in it? I'm looking to buy one and wondering if there's any pitfalls to this year and model. Thank you

The LBZ is arguably the best duramax you can get. I did a ton of research before I bought mine. It's the reason they are so expensive and hard to find. You can get an 09 cheaper than what you'll find 2006's for. The head stud issues, overheating issues, and alison issues they had in previous years were all solved in the LBZ. In 2007.5 they switched to the next version in the new body style which included all the emissions stuff that, while still being a reliable drivetrain, made the fuel mileage suffer fairly significantly. I just towed my 7k lb airstream all over this fine country with my 2006, well over 8k miles. I don't tow slow. Over tons of steep mountain passes, I averaged about 13mpg, which with todays diesel fuel, is pretty damn good. If I baby the truck, I'll get 18+ mixed pretty easily, and better on the highway. The only downside to them, is they look like an older chevy pickup. I have the LT3 trim package, 4x4, 4door.

They are fantastic trucks... I actually own one and am selling it. Let me know if you are interested.
