I changed the belts a couple months ago on my girl's 2003 Tacoma (V6, 4wd), and from the time I changed the belts, the serpentine has squeeked like a mofo upon startup. Revving up stops it and after its gone, its gone.

I've gotten the alternator as tight as I can, and the belt seems to be properly tight.

Any ideas on this?

The other issue I'm having is the sensor upstream of the catalytic converter, I can't quite remember what it is called but it measures the temperature of the exhaust compared to the outside temp, if I'm getting that right. It has gone bad, specifically the heater that warms it up is throwing a code.

I pulled the sensor the other day and cleaned it as best I could with some throttle body cleaner. That didn't fix it, any suggestions on cleaning, etc? Hoping to avoid having to replace this sensor :x

Belts dont need to be "as tight as I can" and over tight can cause a squeal, but my alternator squealed like hell. I did a cs144 swap (search ttora) and its pretty awesome.

The upstream 02 sensor is common on these. I replaced it with a bosch, cel came on so I replaced the cat ($$$$$ if bought as replacement, but with welding skills you can 'adapt' a high flow from flowmaster if its a 45* one like I did) no cel since

- belts..I think of what type of belt did you use? OEM?
- are the pulleys worn or alignment issue
- is the belt tension correct..too tight is not good either..should be a certain deflection at the proper tightness

not sure what the sensor is... the way you describe it it sounds like a thermal flow sensor which references 2 rtd's and one of them has a heating element..the difference in the temp changes the resistance and a circuit detects the difference as flow.

I doubt you can clean this..check the connections and check for continuity on the terminals..if something is opening up it would be done.

The belt is properly tight - it isn't too tight for sure. I tested this by loosening it some and the squeeking got worse :x

I'll look for cs144.

The belts are from O'Reilly's
