this should probably go in a "normal" 4 runner forum but maybe one of the members here has a good mod?

i just did 2000 miles in my 2wd 2003 four runner and i noticed that late in the day when i try to get my foot closer to the /top/ of the pedal (so that it is easier to keep the pedal depressed) that my foot bangs into the console at the top right. basically i can't seem to get the heel on the ground and still get my foot higher up on the pedal. when i do the top of the foot seems like it can get wedged in there and actually feels a bit dangerous.

i could put the heel down and crank my foot over at a 30 - 40 degree angle but this is super unwieldy.

i'm wearing red wing work shoes that have a rounded toe but they are size 9. and on the one hand i can't see how they designed a vehicle like this and on the other i can't see how the guys with big feet manage in this space.

anyone run into this?! anyone got a mod for it? ferrari driving shoes??!!

i possibly plan on selling the 2wd and getting a 4wd but if this is chronic with no mod options i need to rethink this.

thanks for any good info

I love my 01 but never enjoyed long trips with it. If you did 2000 miles and that's your only complaint you are good.

I have been contemplating checking out a new 4 Runner, but i don't do the miles I used to, and I have another car for trips.

thanks. yeah, i am getting out of a 98 4wd 2dr tacoma.

comfort-wise it is pretty good. handling wise i would say OK (she does feel a little top heavy and a little loose on the steering for my taste but maybe i am sort of spoiled on these issues with the tacoma?!). power is pretty great however. sleeping in the cab with the large pulldown seat on a road trip does beat the tacoma bed by quite a bit.

i appreciate the word on the older 4 runner. i want to get a 4wd and the older stick 6 cylinder four runner has been on the list.

this accelerator pedal room just sort of stumps me. i may have to get down there and see if i can take off a panel or something to get another 3/4" or something...

THANKS for the good input.

For driving long trips maybe sneakers with rubber sole. Grips better.
