Starting some work on the girlfriend's car this weekend. 2001 Firebird V6 Convertible with 77,xxx. Drivetrain is immaculate. Everything else is just worn out. First item are the rear bump stops.

I found out through ls1tech that bump stops from a 1976-1986 Jeep CJ5 work with a little modification. Energy Suspension part number 9.9137R bought from Summit Racing. $22.90 to our door.

Here are some shots of the rear. You can see one bump stop is alright. The other completely gone.

After this I'll be doing the rear shocks. Gotta get those ordered pretty soon.

I'll post back with results when I get this done.

Got it done today :)

The shocks are Monroe HD shocks that O'Reilley's had. $20 a piece. College student budget for real. So the total for replacement of the rear bump stops and rear shocks was less than $70. A short test drive and it is much better. Less body roll, and it isn't as squishy over speed bumps.

And about the modification of the chassis to fit the new bump stops: I just bent out the existing tab of metal to flat rather than at 90 degrees. The bent tab extends past the edge of the bump stop maybe 1/16". Shouldn't cause any issues. The old bump stops didn't have a flat base, but a notch for the tab. So I fixed it :hillbilly:
