Recently purchased a 2000 LC and am loving it. It has an aftermarket head unit and the manual antenna switch isn't working. When the unit powers on/off, the antenna raises or lowers, but stops about 6" from being flush. When the mast is fully extended, there's a small dent on one side, so I'm not sure if that's jamming it. I can hear the motor running after it stops retracting, too, which makes me think it's jamming. I have 0 electrical experience, but lots of courage! I'm fine to replace the antenna but wasn't sure if this was a common problem with an easy fix (mast not lowering completely). After searching the forums, it seems like after market head units often result in killing the manual switch, but I couldn't find anything conclusive either way (for that or the partially retracting mast).

Anyone have a suggestion on diagnosing the switch and mast? Thanks for the help!

Well,

I do know the small "dent" in the mast is more than likely stopping it. Mine was like that and wouldn't retract all the way but a new mast cured it.

Can't comment on the wiring of the manual switch, sorry.
