A friend has a 1KZ-TE in some 1992 toyota SUV (I do not know the exact model but I will update this post). It has mechanical throttle but electrical IP.
The problem is that there is lack of power and the engine overheats. He says he has swaped in two 1KZ-TE and this is the thrid one giving the same problem. He has replaced the rad and fan-clutch but no dice.
Says: The first engine overheated while normal driving (40-60KM/h). The second showed similar symptom but this third overheats only when driving at or above 120KM/h.
There is no visible somke.
