Stupid me just pulled the timing gear (look at other thread about metallic noise) and didn't note where it was before!!!
Now I thought I just can use the marking of the pulleys but I can't turn the timing gears to the correct position, the piston hits the valves! How can I still install the timing gear correctly without having to remove the camshaft?? Please tell me I don't have to remove it!
I set before the camshaft to No.1 BDC. The crankshaft is probably not where it should be...
When the crankshaft pulley key is at about 12 o'clock the OO marking of the crankshaft gear is at about 2pm BUT it's 4-6 gears AWAY from the "O" of the idler gear!
Could I just remove the idler gear, set it to the correct OO position of the crankshaft gear and adjust the timing gear to the correct 11 position of the idler?
I would have guessed Toyota would set from the factory the timing gears at No1 piston at BDC...
