I’ve got a 2006 Land Cruiser 100 Series with the 1FZ-FE engine. Lately, I’ve been dealing with an overheating issue, and I’d appreciate any advice or insights.
Symptoms:
- While driving, temps stay around 89–98°C.
- When idling with the A/C on or stuck in traffic, the temp gradually climbs, sometimes hitting 103°C.
- As soon as I start moving again, temps drop back down.
- A/C continues blowing cold even when the engine is hot.
What I’ve Done So Far:
- I installed a Mishimoto 68°C thermostat a few months ago.
- The fan clutch feels weak – I’m planning to replace it with an Aisin unit soon.
- Radiator is still stock; not sure about internal condition or possible clogging.
- Coolant level is normal, no leaks.
- Running a dry performance air filter (Exeed brand) – no other performance mods.
- No signs of a head gasket issue (no white smoke, coolant in oil, etc.).
