we totaled our 2000 rav4, and are looking at other similar vehicles as well as other rav4 s.

the suzuki looks interesting more bang for the buck and a frame no unibody, but is there reliability questionable?

here is a 1999 suzuki grand-vitara that we are considering... your opinions are much welcomed!

thanks

I have heard nothing but good about them pretty much. Biggest complaint that it was to loud inside. Hell..........I even wheeled with one once.

well we picked up a 1999 manual v6 Suzuki gv 5500$ with under 200k on the clock.

one thing i clear is that this little guy is really well built [much, much better than a rav4] has real box frame with a unibody body placed on top of the frame, the rear diff is huge for the size of the vehicle. it has a proper t-case with high low 4wd [4h on the fly @ <100k] and 2h.

the small v6 gives more than adequate power and the ride is comfy.

it's not a cruiser, but it is a serious little off road capable vehicle...

i would never go back to a rav4.

My cousin's son has a 1999 V-6, and this kid can care less about cars. Well the kid drove the thing for close to 15,000 miles without an oil change, to the point that almost no oil was left in the engine. It started making horrible sounds, so he took it to a shop. They said his engine was shot, however they would do an oil change to see if it would help. That was over 5,000 miles ago, and it seems fine, no sounds or even burning oil for that matter.

I've read that among other vehicles the Suzuki is most off-road capable.

And why shouldn't it be... it's built right here in my town. ;)

We've got Yamaha (Motor and Music) and some Honda factories as well. (And Toyota not too far away)

They've been laying off people too though.

I've read that Nissan, Mitsubishi and another manufacturer or two decided not to attend a car show because of this current economy.

Bad times! :frown:
