I have a '99 outback as the "other car" and wanted to upgrade the bulbs in the stock foglights to 80W. The stock ones are 55W, Anyone have some insight on if this is OK. that is, will that wiring harness be alright with the higher wattage?

I'd like to avoid a "thermal event". :-)

thanks!

Daniel Stern Lighting showed me the 'light'

so, just for an update, those foglights take a "9006" or 9007 bulb...I can't recall right now. But in reading Daniel Stern's website on bulbs, he clearly states that the high wattage 9006's and 9007 are downright dangerous.

HTH

bummer... we have a '00 outback and the headlights suck. I was hoping for an upgrade. Her car eats low beam bulbs so upgrading the fog lights would be the ticket...

The wife drives a '00 outback as well. We had trouble with both headlights at about the same time. If you are blowing through them pretty quick you may make sure you are taking extra care to make sure you don't touch the bulbs. I imagine everyone on here knows not to touch those kinds of bulbs with your fingers, but you can't be too careful.
