Long time lurker, first time poster. Got a key problem that I couldn’t find with the search function, and didn’t see anyone with the same issue in the master key thread. So if I overlooked, please point me in the right direction.
I’ve had my 100 for a couple of months now, it didn’t come with a factory key fob or valet keys, only these steel copies. The truck recognizes both of them as a master key, the security light goes off when they are inserted. I ordered a replacement fob from the local dealership, but they could not get it to program. The technician told me that someone did some “black magic wiring” to the ecu and that it was no longer searching for the immobilizer chip in the key, So they could not program the new key. They didn’t want to touch anything because they were afraid if they undid anything, the truck wouldn’t start at all. They gave me my very expensive paperweight and sent me home. I got the door remote programmed pretty easily following the guide in the master key thread. But the new key still won’t start the truck. This is uncharted territory for me, any ideas what has the ECU blocked from looking for the immobilized chip?
