Yes ive owned 2 of them, an 90 Quatrro and a 200 Trubo @Quattro.. Both Great cars w/ almost 200k miles.. Minor issues, Excpensive parts/labor rates..

never had an A8.. Sorry for my Chat :flipoff2:

Thanks for the inputs. I just talked to two extend warranty companies, they want over $4k for a 2 yer/24k B to B coverage. I better stay away from A8, eventhough it is best buy.:D

I had one loved it except for the little problems. The have some tranny issues also. I'm looking at getting a sedan or sports wagon and have s6 and s8 on the list along with a couple of other including the M5. Check the audiworlddotcom forums on the a8's. Also I would get a 98 or later to get the tip.

In summary, their reliability is among the worst of all cars. At least of that vintage. Nice cars, if you can afford to keep them running.

Depends on how much cash you have. But if it HAD to be European, I'd go for a 5 series BMW. Pretty decent reliability, in fact among the best of their line. Another option - give some SERIOUS thought to a Lexus GS400. Before you say "nope" drive one. 300HP and set up like a sports sedan. Near zero problems. Deceptively fast - and they are really quick, and even decent on fuel.

A8's are killer cars, they suffer from the same problems that all the german cars using Bosch are currently having. interior is top notch on the audis much nicer than their euro brothers. and Quattro is king for traction period.

Call me if you like I own a Porsche,Audi, and VW shop in NJ
