1996 Surf/4Runner Disel rear locker

Guys,

I am completely non technical, and need some serious help here. Would like to install a rear electric or mechanical locker on my 1996 Surf (4Runner) fitted with 1kz diesel engine.

Any recommendation?

The electric ones, mostly from ARB are way out of my budget. SO what are my other options. Pls help and advise.

AFAIK, ARB's are all air operated and e-lockers or electrical are all factory Toyota one's.

I don't know all of the company's that make ratchet lockers (mechanical) but a couple are lock-rite, detroit, and aussielocker.

I would not attempt it by yourself, not having any experience with them. Do some reading on what you want and look into a shop that can install for you.
The difference can be 300,000 miles of flawless service vs. 30 mins to detonation if it is done improperly.
