Vintage Teq has a good write up on the gas cap, there's no need for the wire lanyard. The original cap on my FJ62 hooks onto the latch of the gas door. It's magic!

I do this, but balance it key. Mine has fallen off at times. I think a lanyard of sorts isn’t a terrible idea.

Handled a few things today.

Finally for the freaking spare tire carrier removed. Like most, the bolts were pretty well stuck. Had to get some extractor sockets and a longer breaker bar to get them off.

Swapped out the brake, reverse, and turn signals with LED bulbs (thank @SirBeef). What a difference!!

Showing reverse light difference:

Been meaning to post this for a while, but is my exhaust routed incorrectly? It has completely melted the boot on my shock. When I replace them, I don't want this happening again. Any advice appreciated.

Shock boot should be on the bottom for drainage, at least that's the way I've learnt it.
Can't tell you in the exhaust is right, mine is a PO's wet dream so...

Got the rear drums done today, thanks to my Dad. I've never done drums and he hadn't done them since the 70's. So, the first one rook about an hour and the second side took about 20. LOL

She stops better and I feel more confident. I used OEM drums and PowerStop shoes. All in all, a good day's work.

Have been having issues with the stereo constantly cutting on and off. Did some reading online and everything said to check the alternator for under or over charging. Checked the battery with the engine off and got 15V. Turned on the engine and was getting 18-19V, which from everything I read is over-charging. I'm assuming it's the voltage regulator, which is inside the alternator, so I will probably just get a new one.

I'm about to remove the aftermarket cruise control system from my Cruiser. To get vacuum in the system, they put a t-fitting in the middle of hose 44772B in the diagram before. I would like to remove the T, but of course the hose is NLA. Can anyone recommend a suitable hose off the shelf? Could I just put some generic hose in its place?

McMaster Carr has perfectly serviceable vacuum hose. Look at the FAQ for desmogging. I might be interested in that T, post a pic please?

Yeah. I’m either going to replace the whole house or put in a straight union. If you want it, it’s yours man.

Woohoo. Great news. So, I could have them shipped to TX but then would eventually have to have them shipped to Germany.
Could you do international shipping?
Thanks
Christian
What part(s) are you referring to? The cruise control? I don't mind shipping internationally, if you pay for it.

I’m going to see if mine will still work, only thing I’m missing is the T

The "body" of the fitting comes in at 9.9 mm. I'm not sure if I'll get around to measuring the barbs today, but definitely yours if you want it.

Had great weather today and finally had a chance to install the @c2dfj45 hood strut kit installed. The kit is extremely well made, had everything needed, and their instructions made it easy to do solo. 1  job and something I would recommend to anyone.

Has anyone replaced the instrument panel bezel on their 62? Any tips? How big of a PIA is it?
Like the drum swap, it takes an hour the first time and then 20 minutes thereafter. The hardest part is removing/reattaching the speedo cable, but if you can find the right angle to get your hand up behind the dash, it's pretty doable.
