Finally got my new battery trays. Not sure if you can tell which is the original or not.

Not much to report today. Removing a lot more than adding. Took out the seatbelts, so they can be shipped to Seatbelt Planet for re-webbing. Pulled off all the door sills and front A-pillar trim and washed it, so it would be ready for repair and paint down the line. Since the center console was going to have to come out anyways for carpet, I went ahead and removed and washed it too. I saw someone recently do a really good job with the Plastex plastic repair kit, so I am going to give it a go and see what I can do to repair/stabilize all this old plastic.

Also got the second stainless battery tray base installed and found a suitable location for my coolant overflow tank. So, I'll be ordering some tubing and will handle it when I get the second battery. Like most, I'm moving to the driver side fender. Got it mocked up and everything seems to fit.

For sure. Will post when I get home. Should have new radiator hose to move the coolant overflow tank waiting for me at the house.

I just can’t say enough about the quality of stainlesstrays.com

No batteries installed at the moment, but here you can see how they're set up. They're designed for Optima 34's, so I will be getting a red top for starting and a yellow top for the "house" battery. I'll need to figure a switch/solenoid to manage the batteries.

As part of the process, I moved my radiator overflow tank to the driver's side fender. There were already some bolt holes, so I used one of them and drilled and tapped the second. So the tank would sit low enough to not impact the hood, I added some short spacers behind the bracket. I got new tubing from McMaster-Carr. It's 6mm ID and 10mm OD high-temp silicone hosing.

I'd love to get some thoughts on where to route the overflow hose now. Some have never seen it overflow, but it will pour out the second hose. I have 2 options. 1: Route it to drain behind the driver-side fender, which would hit the exhaust. 2: Make a u-turn and route it drain at the front of the driver-side fender.

Anyone have a recommendation or ideas for me to consider before I finish it off?

I also got my new windshield washer reservoir installed. For those of you like me who have never changed the pump out, it just pops out. It's kind of a PIA, but it's done and looks fancy now.

In this picture with the three trash cans in the background, are you leaving the hose snaking around the hood bumper like that?

Probably not long-term. Once I have the battery mounted, I will run it in front of the battery and add some zip ties or cable clamps to run it through. Any other thoughts on where I could run it?

Maybe get some of the cable ties that have a hole for mounting and utilize some of the preexisting holes. I'd try to run it on the inside of the front and curve off toward the dark green trash can on the left along the inside rail.

I'll take a look at that before I finalize. I have some of those zip ties that pop into holes, so that could work out well.

Speaking of trash cans and a bit off topic... I hope GFL is more reliable at your address than at mine. Out here we call them "Good F....in Luck" - you just put the cans out each week and see what happens.

I can promise you it's the same here. LOL

After some guesswork, I was able to get a longer belt around the PS pump, idler, crank, water pump, and alternator and get everything appropriately tightened.

For me at a future date (and for anyone searching): 3FE Desmog, Smog Pump Delete, 2 Idlers
  1. AC Belt: Dayco 17470 or Bando 3460
  2. Alternator: Gates TR22405 or Bando 5395
  3. PS Pump + Alternator: Gates TR22588

Did A LOT of work today, but didn't get much done. The plan was to replace the bushings in my leaf spring and upgrade to grease-able anti-inversion shackles. Per usual, Kurt @cruiseroutfit delivered everything needed. Also per usual, one of the PO's left me with some surprises I wasn't expecting. They welded on some "anti-inversion plates" at some point in the past. So, I had to go buy a grinder to get them off. Great excuse for a grinder, but just wasted a ton of time. So, between working solo and working through all the problems, I got one corner done instead of the whole rear end. Kind of a PIA, but it is what it is.

Thank you!!!
