Stretched wheelbase 40s look... well... off. Not a fan.

May not be everyone’s cup of tea but that 40 is super nice. I don’t mind the wheelbase extension look on it.
I’d imagine it helps out the ride a bit, I haven’t ridden in that 40 in a looong time 😎

Our rides were a little different in 2006 🐖

Anyway, here’s @PabloCruise build thread if anyone want to see that transformation and build.

Wow, thanks @FJBen, it is always nice when someone appreciates the time, effort, money you have put in on your Cruiser.
Hard to believe I have been playing with the 40 for almost 25 years!!!

Real time help…

How the F do you change a motor mount?

Seems like loosen each nut on both sides and then raise engine enough to replace.

However there is not enough room to lift it up to get the mounts out.

Fan hitting
Exhaust hitting
Hard line Coolant hitting

Am I missing something or is this a case of take all that off

Only other option is taking off or loosening block mount as well

This is a case of loosening/ unbolting things (downpipe, fan, etc). I remember having to lift the engine high enough to where the backside of the valve cover was touching the fire wall.

If I recall the intake side mount is a whole lot easier to do than the turbo side. I think I fought it for a good chunk of time... pry bar...

Thanks for that.

Well I found the trick on the turbo side was to undo the exhaust and lift up a few inches.

Then remove the mount from the engine block. That was about 20 mins to do that one side.

The non turbo side looks really hard to get to that top side bolt.

When I installed new mounts, I crushed or disconnected a vacuum line in some invisible, inaccessible spot, seemingly where the trans tunnel starts.
It happened via over-zealous engine lifting.

Both mounts are bad?

Yeah I’m guessing so. The tranny mount was bad and the one side was bad. I’m going to guess the other is bad too.

After starting it appeared that the side I replaced moved much less than the other side. 90 degrees in a metal shop, I only had one motor mount in me today.

Yeah I noticed my power steering got really tight and stretched. The hose was cracked so I was expecting when the I started it fluid was going to spray.

So far it hasn’t leaked.

Making the engine and trans roll by using levers did the trick.

I’ll try that method for the other side.

@FJBen, make sure to loosen the transmission mount too, just replaced all three mounts on mine. That was enough to get the motor mounts swapped for my setup.

I forgot to mention I did that as well.

I feel the hardest part is getting the drivers RHD side top bolt off. It’s buried under the IP and primer pump. Gotta figure out the right combo at this point.

Would it be easier just to unbolt the 4 screws on the engine support mounting bracket and lift the mount and bracket « straight » hope it make sense, not home right now and try to remember what I did…

That’s what I did on the other side. Might have to do the same on this one.

Happy belated Father’s Day…

Was helping my daughter move into her new house. It was only 95 degrees, 20mph wind and parked in Canadian thistle. Great fun getting the spare out from under the van. Sidewall puncture, tires had 700miles on them. Thankfully have the tire Certs so only $40 to replace it.

Took the tire back to colorado to get them fixed and rotate mine while I was there. Had a nascar crew of 5 guys working on the cruiser 😂 they loved it. I was the only customer. They did ask if it was a hilux…watch yourself tire man…

Thursday night we had a huge storm and a tornado about 1-1.5 miles from our place. Some field flooding on the road home with about 12-16” of water. Good thing I have a schnorkel or I never would have made it!! take that @FJ73Texas 😂

Also thought I met a new friend. In the drive thru, my favorite place for shenanigans, the worker came up smiling huge.

Worker: awesome Land Cruiser
Me in disbelief: thanks! I’m surprised you knew what it was
Worker: oh yeah I loved that car chase scene the davinci code!
Me remembering the davinci code:

D00d - that floor jack is way better than any factory roadside jack I have ever found in a vehicle. When did toyota start putting those in the sienna's? And where the heck do they hide it? 😜

Hey, at least she didn't ask you to help her move ON father's day! Now the real question is if she did, would this still have happened? 🤔
