Melt them. When I did mine mostly melted one side and then hammer and punch to push the rest through

Using the new Downey adapter and keeping the heat shield any idea what length the socket cap screws need to be to hold the adapter to the manifold?

You can also grind the rivet flush, drill a decent sized hole in the middle and then it should punch out.

Mine came with screws so I have no idea.

Mine did too, just that they are not expecting the stock spacer/shield to be in place.

The bags turned out great! @wngrog pretty much installed these by himsef!

Ooh, that looks awsome! Whats involved with mounting the bags?
How's your impression so far?
and what bags are they?

Do you just fill when needed, or have a controller setup?
i have the 4plus ubolt flip, so a plate and the nuts at the top. You think that would work?

cruiser looks top notch!

I used the Boss air bags and it is pretty straight install! Remove bump spots and use the existing bolts to hold them in. The bags are a fill as needed system and I have the line and fill valve ran down the frame. I only fill them up if I need them, very easy and straight forward. I would highly recommend these and have been happy with them. I am not sure they will work with the flip kit from 4 plus. @wngrog may have more input there. He talked me into these bags to begin with!

I think I have heard of people using bags on the flip kits but I think you will need to make new perches on the bottom of the bags.

These are designed to sit on the axle tube and are held on by the Ubolts. It would be a pretty simple mod to cut the bottom mount off the bag and weld it to the flip kit plate.

Sounds good, I'll definitely consider this set, swapping for longer shackles (when heavy laden) is getting old.
Think I can pull a leaf then, use airbags on low for daily, fill up for hauling and be ready for the rear bumper project.
Thanks!

Today was the dreaded day.... a couple grinding wheels, torch, stair step drill bits, and a punch and I knocked out ten rivets today! I hit everything with rust converter. Now a little paint and it’s install time!

So I added some paint to my rear frame section. Got the z bracket mounted up on the body mounts today for the 4X4Labs read and then snapped a few pics of the air bags because I realized I didn’t have any. Next post about rear bumper will be the install!

I did get a little time on the inside of the truck today. I finally have a hand throttle. I purchased two hand throttles and they were both different lengths. Neither worked for my pedal. One was to long one short. So, today I cut the end off of one used a basic throttle cable repair kit and pieced this together. No it’s not pretty, but functional and hidden.

I use one similar to this one...

Headed out to @wngrog place today to FINALLY install my rear 4X4Labs bumper. After we conducted a quick test fit we realized the body mounts had to be ground down. So after knocking some metal off and a little touch up paint it was time to slide it on. I love To look of it and this thing is stout! The guy I grabbed this from had 4 rough country LED pods installed in the rear. It’s going to be bright when I finally hook them up! The plan for the second swing out is to fab a single jerry can holder and mount it much like the Kaymar jerry cans. That should round it out for the rear bumper!

Next up on the list... sound deadening, new carpet, speakers, in console radio, hook up reverse pot lights, then the two big ones... install new steering gear box (possibly new power steering pump), and then work on getting my ARB locked complete 60 axle ready to go and installed.

Plenty of work left to do!
