Did you restore your 8274 winch yourself or is it restored?

No it is all original, it looks good because it lived its life in a garage or under the winch cover.

I’d like to replace my TRE’s eventually. Did you notice any difference in steering or responsiveness?

OH YES!! They were worn out .... I went from keeping it between the ditches to keeping it between the lines!!

Beautiful work Doug, excuse the poor picture quality. I just wanted to show you that if you get the right size spacer you can get your spare off your painted surfaces. This is a 1 inch keeping a 31x10.5x15 off the paint and swings all the way.

Thank you brother for the compliment....

And Im glad you mentioned the wheel spacer.....

When I bought the truck back in 2013 I was becoming familiar with the truck by performing some maintenance. I decided I should rotate the tires and when I took the spare tire off and it had a wheel spacer under it. I was puzzled by this because there are not any other spacers on the truck. That has always been an enigma to me, "why just one spacer?"....

So you have answered it!! Tomorrow I'll find said spacer and reinstall it !!!

And more adding weight to the drivers side.. adding to that cruiser lean. :D
HA! Never would've thought of that. I'll bet me AND the tank still weigh less than you and most other Cruiser drivers.

As must of y’all have heard.... we had a EF3/ EF4 tornado here in Nashville and through Cookeville Tn.
Lots of damage and loss of life.
We are doing what we can to get the power restored so that these people can start rebuilding their homes.
Here are a couple of pics in Stanford Estates and it is where Donelson Academy is located.

Well... on our way back home, my clutch pedal hit the floor. Nothing, no pressure.

I limped it home...:banana::steer: it was a good lesson for the girls.
I had to turn off the engine at the red lights so i could get it in gear.... then id crank it in gear and shift it through the gears using the right RPMs....

My oldest daughter was almost impressed..... the youngest was telling me "I was a bad driver"
Im thinking next time Ill let them walk home...

Crap! I used to practice rpm shifting. I got pretty dam good at it to.
Thanks for bringing the girls out. I really enjoyed seeing them.

Had the same thing happen in a UT snow storm. Turned out to be a cheap master cylinder (PO installed) had puked all it's fluid into the cab.

Doug, you can get an oem clutch master repair kit for 24.50 pretty quick. Assuming that is what failed. Oh, I forgot that’s from partsouq. PayPal only. Bill

I thought about rebuilding both master and slave..... but then I was thinking..... maybe just as good to replace both.

I'm not sure if they are still OEM on the truck or if they have been replaced in the past.

If you replace the master replace the slave too. Might even consider the line if it’s in bad shape. That’s what I did with mine. I figured if one part was old and wore out then the other must be too.

Well...... I found the problem...
The pics help with the story...

Brake fluid missing at master cylinder.... Can anyone tell if it is OEM?

Follow hard line across firewall to slave cylinder looking for leaks... Notice the rubber boot at the end of slave cylinder, how that "tit/drain" is turned up... hmmm:hmm:

I couldn't see much more from the top so down under we go....... All that wetness is break fluid leaking from the slave cylinder. .. Once again, notice that rubber boot again, that "tit/drain" is facing up and not down......hmmmm:hmm:

Got the slave removed and on the bench...

Is it OEM?

Notice that rubber boot again... its turned up.....

So after I got it all disassembled I found dirt and mud inside the cylinder...

I didnt show all the dirt and crud that came out of the cylinder and the boot itself, but it caused it to rust and help cause the failure of my slave cylinder.

That rubber "tit/drain" turned up was trapping water and dirt over the past 30 something years instead of allowing all of that to drain out the bottom.
