I'm jumping in later. I have my budget set and the dollars ready to go, but I suspect it blows past that number easily (I think this gets north of $150k with ease)

I have it on my calendar to be engaged this afternoon

The whales arrive late. It would be theft at my current bid.

I really don't get this market. When I sold my spring green patina 40 on BaT, it went for 40 minutes after the auction end time with additional bids. This one is so much better, so underpriced, and it went how many bids?? One? Two extra?

I hang up the phone from a f*ckn work call and its closed. Like 4 minutes after the last bid.

Unfuckingbelievable

Moby Dick never showed. Was still highway robbery at the winning bid price. Did a member end up with it?

Not one single time clock extension. I watched the end and was shell-shocked. No pun intended @shellb I kept refreshing my browser thinking this can't be so, there is no way this doesn't keep going....

Maybe with no bids in the last 24min the auctioneer felt the bidding was over so closed the auction 🤷‍♂️.

I don't think that's how it works. Under 2 mins, any bid resets the clock to another 2 mins. I bid on Shellb's bad ass patina 40 and went back and forth with the winner a number of times at the wire. Each bid reset the clock. No way an auctioneer (human) has any input on any BAT auction, its all computers.

Ok then, with no bids in the last 24min, the “clock” was never reset per the rules I guess. The real question is, if this is known, how come none of the bidders bid in the last 2 minutes? Is that what all the pissing is about?

Missed the window of opportunity for whatever reason, or decided to not place a bid? I watched the end of the auction in astonishment when it closed with not a single clock reset….

If a bid was placed and for some reason didnt register, BAT has an issue with their system, but i dont believe anyone is claiming a bid was placed without registering into the system…..

So theoretically could a seller then bid if there’s no reserve and only have to pay the BAT auction fee to avoid selling for a huge loss?

That one stings a little bit I guess. The money lost doesn't bother me. I'm doing fine. That was just a little anti-climactic. Not even a couple of bidding extensions? I guess I just thought people would value the truck a little more than that.

@wngrog and I talked about pricing when he picked up the truck at my place. I was firm on no reserve because I felt like auctions with a reserve are no fun. I told him if someone walked up to me with $70k cash right now then I would hand them the keys. I did a little bit better than that and the good news is the auction winner bought a truck that he felt like he never had a chance to buy. He has seen the truck before and is a cruiser head. At least I did not sell it to someone who called it a Jeep.

I still have several decently nice cruisers that I probably don't have much interest in ever trying to sell. Maybe we should have added some diamond plate and maybe a 350 chevy instead?

I’m happy to be the proud owner and would always offer back first, I really had no intention of spending that money today although I can, I really wanted this truck to go well over 6 figures but here we sit, I get to own an amazing cruiser, a little piece of history and hope for some others to see the beauty in it that not only I do, but those whose passion shows in this build. I’m continually amazed by the cruiser community, and that’s not always a positive thing and today’s sale might even be a low and a high for me.

I was checking in today, totally amazed it never climbed after your bid.

Take good care of it but more importantly enjoy it, use it, don’t leave it parked.

Cheers
