Cream base coat. After much deliberation I decided to go opposite of what the 45LV scheme was (HTT @Land Cruiser Junky Gene’s FJ35 build) and go with cream on top and bottom. That’s just primer in the middle. There will be kind of a nebula green there (I love cruiser greens, but never actually had one). Then clear coat

Nathan, l am so glad that you found an honest body shop and selfishly happy with the color choice and position. I have never seen another with this, outside of the 3 original 1960 FJ35 photos. Now there will be two Land Cruisers with this early white or cream on top and bottom. I have a photo collection of all of the FJ28s l've come across through the decades, and this build surpasses them all by a longshot. I believe this will be the nicest FJ28 still to exist. Congratulations and I can't wait see it finished.

Are you going to go with the jail bars? If you are I'd be happy to help.

Definitely doing the jail bars! I have a kit im going to be starting with, one of the VW bus kits if I recall. I think I’ll have to make longer bars but the mounts will be handy to have. I don’t think I will worry about the bars directly behind the back seat though those seem too complicated for what they’re worth.

Starting to come together… just clear coat left. Photos make this seem more mint green but actual color is more of a seafoam / Nebula green. Really felt for the longest time we might never get here but it’s turning out to be worth the wait.

If anyone in AZ is ever in need of a cruiser guy that seems to be able to do it all (and with honesty and integrity), reach out to me I’ll put you in touch.

Will get more photos soon. One thing I may change is the firewall, believe it should probably be black inside the entire engine bay. For sure that was the case for the FJ25 but this was painted by GIFU. Does anyone know what the 45LV engine bay looked like from the factory?

I'm pretty sure the engine compartment is black. I retired at the end of July so I can't confirm it. Call 385-385-LCHM and ask if they could take a peek at the red/white 45LV. Tell them I referred you.

@joesfj40 See question above on 45LVs: were the engine bays originally painted black by Gifu? Figured you've seen enough that you might know.

Looks like the 28 at LCHM is all black in the engine bay. They're checking that red/white FJ45LV for me and will send me some photos. Also looked at the 63 LV I have, which looks like it had a black firewall although the fender and aprons are body colored. They look original too. I may just go that route, probably leave the hood green as well.

I would interested a good body shop. Would love to get a bunch of non OEM holes filled and one rust spot fixed on my 73 FST.

Unfortunately I haven't followed this thread. I only look at a few sections on Mud. Forget about the 25 section. May have had some of the items this was missing.

Congratulations on your retirement. Hadn't seen your wanted ad for your position filled. You back enjoying NM?
