If I had to take an educated guess ... the difference is2BJ is the electric and the BJ25L is cable

Looking into the winkers I had not seen anything other than 6v electric winkers ... the BJ jeep was 6v afaik

Not to say there wasn’t 12v could very well had been so

The BJ25 would have been 12v ... but... I mostly see I think cable activated on the 25... only thing electric then is the bulb... the cable actuated ones use the dash lever ... kinda like using a bicycle brake cable system

The question I have is once you wink does it blink ?

I had seen Apollo winkers blink (on jp sites for other vehicles) but no videos on a cruiser ... I would think if it’s run thru a flasher it would ... but did it stock? I need to check and see if a flasher was used on the winker system or not ... I assume yes

That wiring diagram is for an FJ25L Wire harness for a FJ25 and FJ25L are two different harnesses. FJ25 does not have a flasher.

In a lot of ways the early toyota parts numbering system was good ... nuts ... bolts ... washers... I also like that you see the vehicle it originated from and therefore you can find parts for not just the cruiser but for other toyota vehicles

So if your missing say a door handle and can’t find it for a cruiser (used) you can see the originating vehicle for the part and look for the part ... for example if the part started with FA ... look for a door handle for the FA truck used ... it’s the same part

However I can see the warehouse and storage problem ... must have been a nightmare to keep things straight

 
Love that cluster. If any of the “later” early clusters you have are parts bags and have a CHG idiot light meter and the Y/B jumper wire I could help find a place for that😃.

a working farm in nothern califorinia about 20 years ago. I knew what an fj25 was, but didn’t know what year it was. I do remember without question the odd looking round speedometer!!! So I’m guessing it must be a 58! I have looked along the roadside over the years( buddys cabin is on the way) but can’t remember what farm it was on? Wonder if it’s around still!!

Presence of “T-Bird” emblem suggest it being a 59. Looks nice by the way.

Also has the Toyota Land Cruiser apron emblem not Toyota emblem. It does appear to be one of the rare FST with barn doors. Have a 62 FJ40 FST tub with barns doors. Think Phil @FJnotCJ had FJ25 FST with barn doors. Believe the VIN plaque was in Spanish.

I was just looking though this thread and noticed a difference between the photo above and mine. On mine, the loop for the door safety strap is below the dash panel. On this one above, the loop it moved up like the other I have seen. I believe that was a mid year safety change. Moving it higher on the dash. My 1958 is lower as well as another early 1958 that I have which is titled as a 1959. Both are below the panel.

My 59 is the same, below the dash, and my 1960 is above the dash. Its funny that moving the safety strap mount was safer than maybe, seatbelts??
As a kid i fell out of my moms FJ40 twice while it was moving, the safety strap probably would have kept me in. This was in the 70s so seatbelts weren't being used much.
 
Great project! I continue to be amazed by the knowledge and shared information on this forum. Love seeing all the early parts from the world. Well done @Indygbd
