17" wheels fit on 2008 Tundra?

Hello all. I'm new to this forum but not mud. I just bought an '08 Tundra and I would like to use Weld's Black Method wheel. Weld Racing Wheels – Forged Truck, SUV, Car, Motorcycle and Racing Wheels= Problem is they come in 17x8.5 5x150 and no 18". Will the 17" fit an '08 Tundra or am I stuck with 18"?

There are a couple 17" wheels known to clear the massive brakes... One comes direct from TRD, the other from KMC... The webpage you linked to shows their 17" wheel to fit also, so you are in business.

The Weld Racing Method 17" for the Tundra is special one piece forging specifically to put real 17" offroad tires on the Tundra. They are not a redrilled off the shelf wheel, but hub centric and optimized in offset for tall tires on a Tundra. They use the Toyota shanked auminum wheel lug nut to overcome the thread engagement issues with the short wheel stud on the Tundra. (21mm of engagement is the safe minimum on a 14mm stud) This is something the other aftermarket wheels do not address as they use a standard conical nut. They are lighter and tougher than the others as they are not castings. They are also more expensive.(big surprise) KORE performance has pictures of them on a Tundra with their desert suspension system. IH8MUD Banner Advertising

Thanks. I have been finding that the TRD and Weld 17" wheels seem to be the only ones that fit.

Interesting, I managed to squeeze the Tundra 13WL BIG calipers on to my 4Runner with stock 16" wheels. The clearance problem is actually more a back spacing issue or spoke clearance than wheel diameter.

For those of you that haven't been to Lift Kits, Winches, Tires, & Wheels by 4 Wheel Parts , they have a 75% off sale on all Weld Racing wheels. Weld Forged Wheels The salesman said they have eight wheels of this style in Los Angeles.

I am going to lift the truck, 3" in the front and 1 1/2" in the rear and along with 285/70R17's wrapped around the wheels, the truck should look mighty nice. Still undecided about the tires though. The main two I am tossing around are BFG KM2's and Cooper STT TEK3's. Any ideas or input?

Toyota states that the 2007-2008 Tundra TRD brake package requires 20-22" wheels.

Any one have input on the Weld Racing forged 17" wheels. I have found a set with low millage BFG mud terrain tires for a good price. Really had my heart set on the rock warrior wheels but these may be too good of a deal to pass up.
